The matter of the fact is, the Summoner doesn't have good hard points, has FF instead of Endo, has fixed JJ's and doesn't come with maxed armor. You have all of... I think 21 tons? Once you max armor.
You are correct that the TW has more space with max armor applied. It has ~27 tons free space to the Summoner's ~20 tons. Though then again, we're talking a 75 tonner to a 70 tonner and (like you said) jump jets to non jump jets. Max out the jump jets on the TW, and you only have ~22 tons available.
I mean, whatever. Not trying to stir the pot. People are entitled to drive what they like. But the hatred of this unit took me by surprise.

Some people are just mad they aren't TW clones. But how many TW builds can mount dual AMS? Oh that's right, none. And yet we've got all these people complaining about LRMs. Amazing.
Seriously. Just play it different and it works. I drive my Summoner almost exactly the same way I drive my Griffin. Works like a dream.

22.5t, yes. But the key point is, it's optional. If you want/need them, you can have them. The Summoner doesn't have the option.
Playstyles that take full advantage of those jumpjets are pretty much mandatory for the Summoner. The Timber Wolf, OTOH, is far more flexible in terms of what playstyles it can accomodate.
It's largely a question of tastes past a certain point, but the Summoner is a much more niche mech. There, I do not think there is much of a contest on.
Edit : As for On Topic ... the sale for c-bills was over almost as soon as it started.

Perfectly legitimate reasons. I honestly expected someone to come forth and give me "It doesn't meta hard enough!" as their main reason, but your reasons are understandable and reasonable. Shame the Summoner shares the same weight class as the Timber Wolf though. I don't fly mine often just because I don't want to sit around for a half hour waiting for the queue to find me a slot.

It will be interesting how PGI handles this. I've got the popcorn and butter ready.

Honestly, I think they should remove and refund.
Seriously, people can't really complain about it happening since most knew that it was a mistake.
Also, some people, like myself did actually pay significant money to get early access to Clan Mechs and that early access was, most definitely, part of the value of the buying those mech. I bought a Stormcrow and Timber Wolf specifically because I didn't want to wait 3-4 months for them and I think I might just be a little twerked off if a ton of people got access to them right now for C-bills after spending over $100 for that early access. (note: I will admit that the extra bays, the 30% c-bill bonus on primes and being able to bypass the C-bill grind also had some value as well).

I'd rather get more clan mechs out for c-bills, maybe once more people play them they'll realize clan mechs aren't the easy mode they think they are.

The available tonnage is too low.
The hardpoints options are weak and poorly placed aside from 2 high mounted ballistic slots that you will struggle to fill with anything more than one good weapon or two peanut shooters.
Skip this mech, SKIP IT!

Bah, it can actually mount Dakka and Missiles, unlike my Nova (while still having max amour).
I'll enjoy it while I can.

So can the Stormcrow with more available tonnage (LOL) and better maneuverability/smaller hit boxes.
Yeah, sure "jump jets", I get it.
I'd rather take a medium weapons load out on an actual medium mech, so my team can have a heavy spot filled by a real heavy mech.
I don't want it to be bad.
I want it to have Endo, or half weight JJs, or special JJ quirks, or just something to give me a reason to bother skilling this thing out.
Regardless, what you (specifically you) can do with it is one thing. The average player should just steer completely clear of this mech, unless they are really a fan of it from other games or TT, etc.

You see...I can buy the Summoner for Cbills, while I can't for the Ryoken.
It is better, aside from the JJ thing. Are Crit Slots an issue on it? Summoner does have 4 hardwired DHS in the engine.
