So they have been talking about the new Unit creator but how will this work for Lone Wolves who have to allegiance to Merc Corps or a Faction? Will they be able to take a Homeworld as their own and be a rogue faction (like the outer rim civilizations like the Minnesota Tribe) or will they be forced to choose a faction? I just want to know how this will effect Lone Wolves who want to create an unaligned unit.

Existing as a faction with their own banner would be interesting as we could shape our own destiny in the galaxy. -Personal Fantasy of wanting to run a faction-

Nope.

All units will be aligned to an official faction. Fight for the glory of House [X] or GTFO. Which is the distilled essence of Commodity Warfare.

You can be unaligned merc Corp or fight under the unaligned clan banner. There is a dev post explaining it all coming in the next few days.

If you created an unaligned unit you wouldn't really be a Lone Wolf anymore, would you?

If you are a lone wolf I think you are just a filler for any faction.

If you mean an unaligned merc yes I think they will exist but how it works is a mystery so far.

I plan on being a dirty scumbag pirate out to make every one of the major houses life a misery .... unless they pay me to hit their enemy :)

So they're basically "customers"

A lone wolf is a lone wolf- you don't have a faction, or a group, etc etc. That's for the mercs, because that's what a group of warriors are- mercenaries.

Unfortunately Advisor, you have to realize that the people frothing-at-the-mouth crazed over CW, the ones driving this CW initiative, don't actually gve the faintest, remotest f%#! about Lone Wolves. So far as they're concerned, Lone Wolves can all just freely drop dead on the spot since none of them are FIGHTING FOR THE GLORY OF HOUSE [X].

More realistically, they just don't care anymore if any given feature in the game appeals/applies to everyone in it. If they don't get their hyper-exclusionary, screw-everyone-not-in-an-organized-unit Commodity Warfare right myeow they'll flip more tables. Anything Piranha wants to shove out for the rest of us can wait forever until they're done with CW.

So Advisor, let me see if i get this straight? You choose deliberaly to be a lone wolf, which per definition is someone not attached to any kind of group or faction, and are now complaining that you may not be able to be part of a group or faction? *sigh*

I would expect lone wolfs to fill the gaps in teams with too less faction/coorp specific members.

Well the real question is how will this affect the people that have a faction? I think that pretty much the same way *hint*not at all*hint*

A lone Wolf unit would be like- Rogues who are together (DarkCaste ever heard of them in Clan society. They are an aligned unit now and but do not answer to a faction). There are Lone Wolves that want to drop together or be a team but don't want to be a part of the money worshipping Merc Corps or the power corrupt factions. Think of them as Minnesota Tribe... No one knows what they want how they make money, how they get mechs, nothing. They just exist as rogues. That would be the idea of a unit of Lone Wolves. Rogues. Its not that hard to grasp if thought through.

Lone wolf and unit? doesn't really fits, does it?

*sighs* It does when done like- Minnesota Tribe, Dark Caste, etc. Pretty much us who are Lone Wolves are 2 things: People who are a part of F.A.P. and people who want a faction that is not part of The Inner Sphere of Ruined Hopes and Dreams or the Clans of Invading Massacres. Seriously people why is it so hard to grasp a Lone Wolf unit? Are you confused that Lone Wolves may want to team up? Cause I see 10 person teams of Lone Wolves A LOT! And I have actually been a part of them.

A lone wolf is a lone wolf- you don't have a faction, or a group, etc etc. That's for the mercs, because that's what a group of warriors are- mercenaries.

So what's the Minnesota Tribe? What were the Huns? What is the Taliban (before part of a government Taliban were rogue soldiers fighting for what they thought was right not for any faction or money)? What were Pirates (not mercs couldn't hire them and not a part of a faction no organized banner)?

They are in reality Lone Wolves who fight together to survive. They are not a faction, they are not Mercenaries, they are just a unit of soldiers fighting for their own cause and no one else...

-edit- Technically you could call them a faction, but a faction of people forced together is not a faction. Its survival. And a unit of Lone Wolves is just a group of Pirates.

Just gonna mention, Advisor - prooooobably best not to hold up Al Qaeda as an example of what you want to do. That's kind of a really bad idea.

I am confused why any lone wolf will not just pick a faction to rep, rinse and repeat?

I thought they even mentioned that there were certain perks/achievements that required a certain amount of rep points from each faction to qualify.

Seems that any lone wolf will just pick their faction of the moment till they need to switch to the next one to grind.

I don't have any kind of special "inside" information, nor do I follow dev updates particularly closely, but from what I gathered, lone wolf is a designation specifically for those who don't want to join ANY faction and just free-lance for any House or Merc corp.

I have serious doubts that any group will be able to "own" their own planet. If you're playing for a House (or clan), you'll be taking planets for your House (or clan). If you're a Merc or Lone wolf, you'll be taking jobs from the various houses, so if you take a planet, it will go to your employer. [PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART BASED VAGUELY ON A BAD POWERPOINT PRESENTATION].
