I would have gotten the battlemaster hero, but the hard points were not to my liking

a light would have been more logical.
Because medium mechs are supposed to be by far the most common mechs on the battlefield. The only problem we have is they aren't as effective as light mechs in MWO when they are supposed to be MORE effective.
If you ask me PGI is doing it right by creating so many. In my opinion they just need to re-scale mediums and re-size their hitboxes so they live a little longer.

Anyone know which variants and hardpoints Vindicator is likely to have?

We don't know what variants, but one of the most likely will result in the loss of the shield arm: the 1X (the only one with ballistics) has its machine gun in its left arm.

Flea (Already announced, just delayed due to MASC being MIA)
Javelin (With fixed missile systems this makes the most sense to use em)
Urbanmech (if it will shut people up then throw it in there) But they should go for the Hermes (lots of variants)
Guillotine (70 tonner with LosTech upgrades, fast with jump jets good alternate to the phracts)
Black Knight (Iconic battlemech, very homogenous but that didn't stop the Vindicator)
Mauler (Already somewhat confirmed by the devs via twitter, ballistic menace)
King Crab (Iconic non humanoid assault mech, dual AC20 shenanigans, will be dubbed the zoidberg)

This Vindicator may actually end up being the first mech I buy a Hero for once I see it in action and the details on the chassis themselves. It reminds me of a commando, but more evil.
Please keep up the concept art releases, and go back and do ones for the existing mechs. Its always awesome to see the concept recolors/reworks that people do with unit colors, emblems, etc.

Also, from what my Battletech buddies were saying, this mech may end up being a mid-range hit and run guerrilla fighter.
