The concept art is great, but for gameplay wise. This mech has less firepower than a KFX, same as a FS, below a BJ. It weighs 45t. Unless they provide the ECM variant, which in most cases must not be a Hero mech (to avoid QQs), we won't be seeing these guys in the playing field even when lauched. And 60-70 kmph meant that engine change would only bring it up to around 90-95 range after tweaks. That is really slow for a Medium.

Most IS pilot will still go for BJ,CN or FS. Unless the said ECM is available or it has some really good quirks. Like heat generation -20%; Heat dissipation +20%, Energy CD-10% , good hit-box and torso twist angle. It will still as I expect and predict, suffer from the general IS XL weakness to maximize its potential.

ok one the BJ is an ugly POS and its arms only move up and down, the FS dies too fast, and don't even get me started on the cent.

Agreed.

The BJs high mounted weapons make the mech vastly superior. And, unfortunately, I say this as a Capellan.
The Vindis main weapon will be slung way too low to be effective (much like the Atlas weapons).
It's pretty...
But it will be all but useless in the game. :)

Wow, got to wait until September to buy it for C-bills? But PGI is offering the standard variants early for MC? Must be a beefy little critter if they think they can entice folks to spend MC on it instead of Clanners.

Its been the standard release method for mechs outside of special packs, Hero, MC, then C-Bills, probably wrong to read any more into it than just following SOP.

An other useless mech.

First, it can't mount Clan Tech.
Second it has no Ballistic Slots and not enough Missle Slot for a AC or LRM Boat.
And at least the Energy Slot in the Head is useless, because there is not enough Slots for an IS Large Laser.

Better bring us the Warhammer...

The Warhammer can't mount clan-tech either, and is unseen to boot.

Besides, the VND-1X has ballistics and so will the hero if PGI bases it on the "Snake" clan-buster variant.

Thought they'd have teased the hero by now with a screenshot or some information about it in the next vlog they're soon to release. I like being teased :)

But not having high mounted weapons isn't really a killing trait....just means you have to use the side of hills instead of the top... :)
I do not see this mech replacing anything currently in the Medium class, it seems to be more a support mech and will fill that role nicely pending its top speed and Engine cap.

What is going on with no info on the hero? I've decided to put my funds into other places because they have no info (the day before) on whether or not it will be any good, assuming they have PPC/Energy heat quirks to do with the right arm, and durability quirks on the left half of the mech, to entice me to hold the funds to buy it. If the Vindicator comes out without quirks like that, it will be absolutely useless because of the lack of the TT cooling mechanic and it used the left side as a shield for the PPC.

Greetings all,

I'm assuming this variant will not be the,

Vindicator: VND-1R
Mass: 45 tons
Engine: GM 180
Heat Sinks: 16
Speed: 64.8 km/h
Standard Load-out:
• 1 x LRM-5
• 1 x PPC
• 1 x Medium Laser
• 1 x Small Laser

But one the Custom Mech listed:

• VND-1R Vong
The customized Vindicator used by Major Choung Vong
• VND-1R St. Ives Blue
The personal Vindicator of Major Michael Jones, replacement of the PPC with a Large Laser and LRM-5 with an LRM-10 rack.
- Became the basis for the VND-1SIC variant.
• VND-3LD Vindicator Dao
This custom-designed model is piloted by a Capellan bounty hunter,
- rebuilt using Clan-technology heat sinks, Ferro-Fibrous Armor, and Endo Steel.

The 'Snake' is a modified Vindicator designed specifically to counter Battle Armoured troops. The Snake features an arm-mounted LB10-X AC, and three Streak SRM-2's in the left torso.
(not what the art work shows, so it's not this chassis)

think a modified 3L would be likely. Vong is a modified 1R with the same weapons, Ives Blue is sort of a downgrade, the Dao's Mech tazer is not released till 3067 supercharger later on.

Plus, the St Ives Blues, is the basis for the stock "1SIC" variant. Which I think we will be getting (mostly based on the flimsy evidence of the oversized missile bay door.... which would just happen to cover the 1SIC version's LRM10.)

Am sort of hoping for something based off the 1AA, myself, for a faster Hero.

Patch notes in the German subforum indicate that the Hero VND is, in fact, the St. Ives' Blues.

5 hardpoints, total, and a stock engine?

That is....extremely weak.

It all depends on how small or fast this thing goes. This could be nasty infighter, or it could be a complete waste

Yeah, if it's BJ-sized, it's going to be good. If it's proportioned like the Quickdraw, it's doomed.

What this means for the 3 standard variants is that we'll get the -1R, -1AA and -1X. The -1R and -1X should have the 250 engine cap, while the -1AA is likely to have an engine cap of 270 so that we can live out our dreams of turning it into a low-rent PXH-1D.
