Have said it before, there is NOTHING to play for or do beyond training mechs and buying bigger guns. Even Hawken suffers from this, but is still more fun to play and has more team/tactical play then MWO.

I am not sure CW will save MWO. PGI's direction and pace is chaos.

So far, and with the phase 1 deployment just around the corner MWO have reached my treetop... All that cmoes to the game now is just fine gravy on a solid elk burger with lingon-berries... Oh i really should get some brunch..

Your treetop was being able to create a social unit?

That's pretty low considering in games that have that feature, have it present from the outset, not 2 years after launch.

Hawken suffers from a different problem: it is getting too easy to play. There are no more recoil mechanics whatsoever, your mechs can fly, dodging no longer requires fuel, everybody runs faster, and everybody has less hitpoints.

It was a much, much better game during the closed beta than it is now, even with the bugs. Less twitch and rate-of-fire dependent, more positioning and resource management.

Eh. I see "old player returning" posts around here all the time.

If you've got the idea that quitting will magically motivate the devs, you've probably misinterpreted the situation.

The question is, how many of the returning old players continue to play after coming back and checking on the game as it currently is ? As for posting the proverbial "I quit" thread, I doubt most think that will motivate the devs.
Some people just feel the need to express their experience with the situation I suppose.

For every quitting thread, there's probably 50 to 100 players that have quit and never posted anything.
My friend's list is full of players that no longer play the game. I was in a clan that had a little over 100 members
at one time. That clan no longer exists in this game. Most were gone by the summer of 2013 even.

And I think that is also where MWO is heading.
MWO WAS/IS a complex game originally designed as a war game NOT an arcade game and is being dumbed down for the mass market.

PGI should spent more time supporting Mech Warrior and less time looking free to play customers that come and go.

I'm such an avid MW fan, I've vested sooo much money, I'm sooo disappointed, I want you to know I've uninstalled"... Blah-Blah-Blah...

Seriously... Piss -off. :P

So what... Is PGI supposed to read this post, form an epiphany and pull hidden content out their arse just to placate the fact that someone just realized (after nearly 3 years) that MW:O, regardless of the breadth of content added will still at it's core be nothing more than a shooter with context?

These ultimatum threads are so pedantic it neig sickening... If you're hanging out here expecting this game to metamorphose into some rich tapestry of the BT universe... You haven't been paying attention.

They have one chance left, and that's turning CW into a reason to stick around. They're already treading on dangerous ground by tinkering with fundamental gameplay mechanics in a misguided effort to balance Clan and IS mechs on a 1-to1 basis.

If they blow that, just hope the IP license expires ASAP and maybe somebody can Kickstart a proper Mechwarrior 5 stand-alone title.

amazes me the negative attitude people are throwing at a man who served for your freedom... But I guess respect for those who served is something that's not taught to the current generations anymore...

I am sure most if not all of us respect the service that he gave to his country and would thank him for that. However, it has nothing to do with Mechwarrior or a video game forum. Furthermore, having been enlisted does not magically make you a good person, nor all of your opinions facts. It is very reasonable to disagree with or even argue with someone in the military.

On topic, sorry you feel the need to leave. Personally I think the game is still quite fun for what it is, and hope one day it will be bigger and more inclusive of its design ambitions. Hopefully when that day comes you will return and give it a try again!

I dont really understand that, SC is in the same boat right now: they got money, promises, released some ships and dogfight with issues. MWO had that 2 years ago pretty much the same. Even Elite looks better now I think.

As soon as I get a new computer, I expect I will be moving on to Star Citizen. But I dont regret spending money on this game. I've spent countless hours playing it.

The only sad part is that I could easily have kept playing this game for many more years if PGI had kept their promises. Right now, I don't think that's going to happen.

I do know I wouldn't have felt good about never spending any money on this game though. At least I tried to keep the franchise alive. Maybe that will help a future Mechwarrior game, some day.

I paid the Legendary Founder asking price. I paid the Phoenix asking price. I even paid the Phoenix Project extras. During all that time, I spent a little money to buy some 'mech bays and a couple new 'mechs. I've easily sunk more money into this game than any other game that I can think of at this time. I don't regret that, but I have told myself to not purchase a Clan pack and have stuck to that promise...so far. If CW pans out and makes MWO a much better game, I might find myself with several shiny new 'mechs in my garage. :P We'll see.

Do they have a poorly treated community, devs who lie because they haven't re-upped their licensing deal with Microsoft or any of the other bullcrap PGI has pulled?

But personally, I am interested in robots not spaceships, so it's not my thing. But anything that doesn't have Paul must be better.

I wouldn't say they're in the same boat at all. The difference between how PGI and CIG interact with their fans is just... night and day. If I was a professor of marketing, I would ask my students to compare how these two companies have behaved, not just in presenting information to their fans, but supporting the community, listening to the fans, engaging in dialogue, encouraging people to create fan fiction and fan art, and then selecting fan fiction and art that actually becomes canon. Their community manager was actually recruited from the community.

I could probably talk about this for hours, but it's a pointless exercise. And if anyone think this is a question of money, you've got the cart before the horse. A good relationship with the fans doesn't cost money, it generates money.

You mean leaving right before they add Guilds.

CW stage 1 has as little to do with CW as weapon modules have to do with role warfare. Just because they give it that name, doesn't mean they've kept their promise.

There are many here that know how you feel, I myself having been here since closed beta. I had stepped away from MWO in January only to return a week ago in time to pick up the clan Masakari package....Now I am back at it, doing battle on the fields we know so well with renewed vigor.

While I cannot say that the direction and pace of development is what I had expected. I do not regret spending what I have on MWO. They did deliver beautiful battlegrounds and Mechs, and for the most part nailed the feel of Battletech / Mechwarrior combat as I imagined it.

Don't leave angry, take a few weeks / months off, and check in every once in awhile. I hope to see you on a battlefeild in the near future, Fair thee well Mechwarrior!

People are very talented in creating bullcrap you know, especially lately with that crowdfunding thing... anyway we'll see, but for now its mostly just the promises.

Sadly I'm not for spaceships too, I'd like to have an alternative sci-fi online combat sim with lasers, ppcs and all that staff even without humanlike robots (just dont like that WWII setting).

Well if that's the only difference you'll just spend more money there with the same result... good marketing doesn't mean good game most of the time especially these days. Hope I'm wrong sure...

There is M.A.V. but if your expecting a greener field then you will be just punishing yourself with more frustration.
