For what its worth from me, this is pretty rare in my experience. I took a hiatus this year, and when I played from July last year to January this year, I very rarely encountered anybody like that. Since I came back in the past month, with a lot of matches, I've really only encountered two players in all my playtime, one yesterday and one today. One went to far as to inflict friendly fire on his teammate, me, because he doesn't know about this technique called "turning". You really shouldn't commit FF on a teammate with bigger guns than you, or else somebody's finger might slip
Stuff like that is rare. I think thats the third time I've seen anybody intentionally inflict FF on a teammate in MWO. Out of all my playtime, I can't even think of a handful of instances where there were major flamers in a match. Just consider the fact that your ELO is low because you're new and as a result, you're encountering the players without the patience to do halfway decent, let alone refrain from blaming others for not letting them win whenever they press the X key on their keyboard.
I've been harassed terribly online, and the fact that I can only think of a handful of people that have ever caused any major problem in the match (at least, for my team) in MWO, whereas I can encounter more than that in a half-hour of playing Call of Duty on Xbox 360, says more good things than negative things.

OP isnt talking about players who are frustrated at new players and vent, instead its the type that is just malicious for no reason
anyways the best thing is not to care, just dont let it register as anything meaningful but whitenoise like an annoying insect buzzing around while u concentrate on shooting robots with your boomsticks

Unless it rises to the level of actual harassment, then screenshot (default if PrtScrn and the folder is in your MWO folder tree) and report them.
I'm sure someone will come along and flame me over this, but do we really need douchebags running off new players? I almost always warn people first and report the ones who escalate it from there. Unless they are racist or worse, those just get reported with no warning.

Best advice is to find people to group up with a get in a steam/teamspeak channel, not only will you do better playing with experienced people who will share their knowledge but it's a lot more fun being able to give a heads up on your view of the action.

Great fun, got some good pointers and with the proper backup I did great in my Jenner, I even scored "hat trick" 1 game, I think I shocked the guys I how good I could play for a new guy if someone just gave me a bit of direction where to be on the battlefield ^^
Thanks for all the supportive posts, and if anyone wants to play with a light mech that can sting a bit just add me on the friend list, always happy to make new friends and people too run and coordinate with.
Also ty for all the tips and advice given and special thanks for the Triarii group for rolling with me

All the aiming/piloting skills in the world don't help if you're caught in the open, alone, with your pants down. Even in a light, they can, AND WILL, chase you down and kill you. They'll make you a priority because you have no support, and any advantage in numbers vs. the enemy is good for them.
Good job Smurf, glad they helped

The most awesome flamers are the ones that talk a load of smack and tell you that you're playing the game wrong, then on the score screen comes out as the worst player of both teams.
Which isn't to be confused with a Flamer Awesome.

A Flamer Awesome will take care of the enemies while you take a selfie.

Thank you Mr. Koniving
That sounds Awesome.

I personally love burning Dragons.

(Awesome and Illya Muromets are me. Shots by Lordred. Man it's so awesome that I can find shots of myself on Google by searching "Koniving Flamer"!)
