Now that the shamness is out of our blood.

I don't know that they will do another pack with the clans still on our backs. But I wouldn't say I would be surprised. There are plenty of people that buy the MC std variants before their release. And heroes sell like hotcakes for a new mech.

It would make sense for a pack, I am just unsure if they will go there at this point in time.

Just an Idea I had for the 8-19 release of the Vindicator Hero, and maybe future new chassis/hero releases.

On 8-19-2014, from the patch posting til 12am PST (8-19), put together a package, like the Medium and Heavy Mech Packs, featuring the Vindi Hero, and 3 "normal" variants (VND-1R, VND-1AA, VND-1X ?), for one, slightly discounted (10-15%), MC price.

I am willing to bet, that by the past behavior of the MWO community, they would sell at insane rates on that Flash Sale.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Its a good marketing strategy and good idea to get customers to purchase the package.

Therefore, will never happen.

not if people don't show them the way. I have tweeted them, but well, PGI.

Horrible idea because all it does it encourage them to continue to keep sucking from the community like leaches instead of owning up to promises long forgotten. Just because you can "tweet" to the company and they occasional reply doesn't appoint you some newfound ambassador title but maybe if you keep making up lame ideas to fuel their greed they just might grant it to you.

When I read this suggestion I was reminded of Lex Luthor selling out the planet earth to General Zod for Australia.

Just say no to sales kids. Maybe then PGI will wake up and realize they need to get some real work done.

Dude, they need to sell mechs regardless, as it's how the game makes money to stay open. Meanwhile, the next patch is the first part of Clan Warfare (though it looks like it's only the organizational side and nothing more from the previews), and they have a road map for things to come.

Don't want to spend the money? Fine. But if no one buys things from PGI, they're more likely to close shop than they are to release the content you want. Not saying it's support them or no CW, but getting angry at PGI for trying to make money to support the game is silly.

Meh. Does anyone take him seriously, anyhow?

Good, bad or ugly, company needs to sell to make money. PGI goes under, guess what? Ain't no one else gonna touch and fund MW, so it's the end of the road for a very long time. Something people don't get. MW is a niche title. It does solid for it's niche, but if it were a cash cow, Microsoft would have continued development.

MWO goes, we get stuck with Hawken, Heavy Gear (undecided if good or bad, not impressed yet) and Titanfall.

Yay twitch shooters.

Having a pared down Vindicator Mastery Pack would be nice, but I suspect the hero and other variants will go gangbusters anyway, so little incentive for them to offer a sale or pack.

it should sell, but I bet it would get people who would not MC buy the chassis to do so, and maybe even pull fence sitters. Some, usually, wisely don't see the need to use IRL for one week sooner play time, or if they do, buy ONE to grind while waiting. Many of those same people, would likely buy the package to get all of them, slightly discounted (because...electrons...really easy to replenish) for 2 weeks and such and the ability to have them fully mastered before the GenPop gets them.

I take pride in the fact the suck-ups don't :(

Lol. Someone is off their meds.

Indeed, there will always be those who see a bigger picture and think differently. Pity it ain't you. Well, you may think differently, but that ain't always something to brag about. Big picture? I suppose if you consider portrait miniatures large, you almost succeed.

Carry on, lad, carry on.

Well from what I have noticed in the queue. People buy the early hero, but forgo the MC price on the std variants.

What if they did a "buy the hero, get a std variant for 1000 mc or 2 std variants for 1500mc"? It may not make the kind of cash per purchase that the normal variants get, but I bet they would sell considerably larger volume.

I would love too except then I would have to have a twitter account, and that is something I just don't think I can stomach. Feel free to add "WarHippy supports this message" to any of your tweets about this. :(

I dunno. It's another option though, for sure. Depending On the mech though, I have seen a lot of "standards" bought with MC. Some, like the VTR and Orion I was seeing one std a match minimum it seemed, pre cbill release.

I think part of the problem is that most of those who really wanted the PHX mechs bought the pack, and the Clans are just now becoming available, so we haven't had much of interest to try it on in the last year. (Though the FS9 seemed to move units OK)

I suppose another approach might also be, "Buy the Hero before Midnight on the 19th, and get 35-50% off 2 std Variants on the 26th"?

But with an (oddly) anticipated chassis like this, they right sale tweak could potentially unleash the floods, as Mediums are actually not seeming to be the pariah s they once were (even if they are still not "it" mechs by any means).

If nothing else they could throw in a mech bay for free for anyone that purchases the Hero the week it is released. A lot of people have wanted them to give the mech bay away with Hero mechs as it is, and doing it for the first week and not later might be a good compromise. They could do the same with the standard variants for the week they are released for MC only as well.
