yes, it took them 2 years. The "UI2.0 bottleneck" excuse started back in OB.
It wasn't an excuse. There you go again. Telling me your background experience and saying something like that. If you do not know how it could be a bottleneck then I am not going to bother. Just wow man, wow
also I need a reference to where development on UI 2.0 started because I do not know the exact. I also do not remember them giving an exact date towards development.

There YOU go again, I never said it WASN'T a bottleneck. Try again sir. If you'll check my post history (thus cutting down on your personal ignorance involving another person by educating yourself BEFORE making ignorant statements) you'll know that I have said MANY times (i'm willing to bet enough times to come close to your entire post count) that it was an acceptable delay when they kept talking about it.
It's an "excuse" because we STILL (nearly a year after UI2.0) don't have a single solitary thing implemented in game that it was supposed to be bottlenecking.

Funny, you call me ignorant, and yet Their has been post about what the UI does for the game. Like I said, think real hard.
I guess you have to understand coding, but if you did you wouldn't have asked what you asked.
No, my statement is factual.
I know what it does for the game. That doesn't mean they're doing it now does it?
Know what UI2.0 has been used for so far? (besides new graphics and layout that is, which is one of the most convulted systems I've ever seen in this regard, never mind the click fest the lab is)

It's allowed sales without the need for a patch
nice, very nice. Well, no point in dragging this already derailed thread off anymore. I see by your response that you don't really have a clue what the UI does. So with that I am done.
Also, research goes a long way. Nobody can know anything without learning it first.
The more you know. well he hit the nail on the head, ALL IT DOES IS ALLOW SALES WITHOUT PATCHES. very nice indeed.
I know I am skipping the Meat but No UI 2.0, NO CW. Wheather(funny?) you find it bothersome or not is not an issue. It's just needed. IF you don't know C++ or how Algorithm works then there is nothing more to gain from this conversation.
so you really think a single map takes 4 months and $250,000 to create?
If that's true you're either
Lying
or
have never been involved in modding, developing, etc.
those are the only two options.
No, there is a third, you are just clueless and want to sound smart, by pulling insults.
the number PGI presents for map creation costs, is about the sum, other companys name too, when this matter is regarded,
but hey, i guess we should ALL get our Tinfoil hats out NOW, because ALL gaming companys are lying at us right?
Oh and yeah pulling the "But Modding!" stuff is just a joke, how MANY mods did EVER have the quality to get ANYWHERE within the communitys? A handful! compared to the tens of thousands of Mods which are out there for different games.
nice, very nice. Well, no point in dragging this already derailed thread off anymore. !
smartest thing you've said all thread sir

lol then you get gems like this.
so sir, please explain to me how I'm "wrong"
can't wait to hear this one
Jesus bloody H christ - if I have to recover one more of my posts, I am going to strangle someone with my intestines. How the **** did they manage to screw up a feature that worked over a year ago?

well, The point was not whether UI 2.0 was good or not. I was just looking after it's release. i don't think it took them two years either.
Well, no, it didn't take them 2 years to develop UI 2.0 - it took them about 2 years to go from "soon" to "here it is." God only knows how long someone actually spent developing it. One week? A whole month? It probably got sent back and forth between different people for a while with a lot of redundant work and argument being done over it.

Also, not everyone had a problem with Ui 2.0. For me It was always easy to use. somethings were inconvenient but It has been greatly improved since release. I don't even notice it anymore. Also its purely perspective, People who played before the new UI generally do not like it, those who came into the game after look at it as the previous UI. Of course It can be Vice versa. Everybody adapts to new things in their own way.
The thing is that people shouldn't have to 'adapt' to UIs. That is the entire point behind them.
And, no - there is not really all that much subjectivity when it comes to UI design. While there are such things as 'preference' - those preferences are in the miniscule details and decisions of UI design that are not game-stopping UI design.
To properly review a UI - you must actually understand what the purpose of a UI is. It is not just a 'menu' - it is the science and art of empowering people to control the program intuitively and precisely.
This is a pretty good illustration of what I mean by there are limited 'preferences' in UI design. The mind-eye relationship is about as close to universal as it gets (I am sure there are some people who deviate from the norm - but we're talking 1 in 1000 or fewer).
This is a good example of how you can get a UI wrong.
You wanted the engine rating just above the one you currently have?
Select Your Mech
In the old MechWarrior 4, there was not an overlapping of images/icons with the text. The text was clearly columned next to the image. This is the same format that was followed by the previous UI for MWO - while the old UI wasn't 'optimal' - it was serviceable.
The icons that were given in MW4 were clear and concise. Weapon 'grade' (large, medium, etc) was clearly evidenced by immediately visible differences. Portraits of mechs were inverse-sillouettes that provided distinct and easy-to-perceive edges. Compare that to the fully rendered portraits that are in MWO with text burried within the icon as to what they are.
In the weapon/equipment panels, items are not grouped. Why is the Small Pulse Laser way off at the end of the list while the medium laser begins it? There is absolutely no sensible order to the way components are arrayed. We can 'memorize' them through sheer force of beating our brain against them - but if I wanted to play a memory game I would crack my head against some of the Plants Vs. Zombies mini games.
The visual distinction between the different lasers doesn't exist. There is no clear difference between a Large laser or a Small laser - or a pulse laser, for that matter. They look identical in their icon (which is a more complicated object for our eye to interpret, anyway - while it is neat - a small icon in the corner of the image would go a long way). This makes it necessary to find the text - which is buried within the visual space of the icon and is in small text. Rather than simply panning our eyes down a column of text - we have to try and search across rows of text, which is much more taxing to the mind since our eyes like to contrast against nearby text.
Small Laser, Medium Laser, Large Laser, ER Large Laser.
Small Laser
Medium Laser
Large Laser
ER Large Laser

1) you don't know anything about "coding". Do not pretend that you do. The way you talk about it in your pitiful attempt to sound like you have some kind of secret understanding betrays your complete ignorance of the subject.
2) I am a professional software engineer with 13 years of experience developing and managing the development of complex software.

good for you. If only your manners were as good as your software development we could actually have a conversation.
yeesh. When are people going to stop conspiracizing that Piranha legal-judo'd MWLL away?
When MW:LL releases its next patch with a mechlab they planned?
You should have been there when it all went down......Theres a lot of drama that got deleted.......Just remember the victor decides how history is written.
The MW:LL guys finished off saying something to the effect of:
“There has not, nor has there ever been, any legal action or threat of legal action leveraged against the MechWarrior: Living Legends development team. This was an assumption of a small amount of volunteers based on incomplete information. To clarify, the decision to discontinue development of MechWarrior: Living Legends was made by the founders and owners of the project. On behalf of all the people involved in MechWarrior: Living Legends we must sincerely apologize to all parties affected by this miscommunication.”
Or the MW:LL dudes work for Crytek who's engine happens to be the one used in MWO. Imagine your "crytek" you got a couple employees "playing around" making a program that's competing with me and I am your customer. You still want me to use your program engine and pay you for it? Tell those minions of yours to beat it.
But you can tell them to "send in those resumes" .......... MF they had a game you didn't want around!
I predict the "greater evil" might get a hold of those devs............Microsoft. I dunno with them being tight with EA/titanfall launch game even.........
No theres nothing going on between mwo and mw:ll. they a friendly and Mw:ll just didn't feel like it anymore......yeah........believe that.
13 years, indeed. Anyone can learn Computer Algorithm. It isn't that difficult. The number of years doing it does not mean much. you could have learned it in a year and been fluent for 12 years.
I am sure you know what your doing, but how about you lay of the attacks. Downplays your intelligence, when the only post you make here are attacking someone. Why don't you put that experience to use and show us something
The development cost of the map is due to hill climb. Everytime they hit a small bump, they have to stop, wiggle around for a bit, and then go back the way they came. They should make a Module for map making.
As a matter of fact Roland you never offer anything of intellect every time you post a word. It's always something simpleminded and unintelligent. That is probably why you dislike me so much. you just don't stack up with anything I say, it goes past you and you fail to comprehend anything that aren't simple sentences or something Obvious. Is this not correct Quineg?
