A lot of people were using 2xlpl 5xerml builds during this past weekend. Unfortunately for me I didn't catch on until after the tourney was over. Been having lots of fun with it since though:

MWO - Space invader Timberwolf on River City: http://youtu.be/ZBqTUTDzMfw

*WARNING: the above video contains graphic depictions of Kitfox abuse, full frontal directed energy dumps on unsuspecting IS mechs, and other scenes of p2w carnage that may disturb the sensitive mechwarrior. :D

2LPL 5 er medium timby is the ultimate carry mech.

Last night when grinding c-bills for c-bill vindicators,i had 3 1K damage matches in a row and 22 matches with 700 + damage, its the ultimate i win button IMO.
Its a damn shame that 2LPL 4 mediums dont work as well, would love to use this setup on Prime for the extra c-bill boost.

This was my before cERLL nerf game when i got Ace Of Spades, quite nice and balanced build.

Also doing 4x cERML 3x cMG 4x cSRM6+Artemis does a really good job if you are aggressive, every match in it is above 700 dmg easy match so its really trivial to play it.

This next video is pure Lrm stacking , but dong get fooled 4x cERSML + cMg's can do some nasty dmg to a brawling target.

All those builds in this topic , you cant go wrong with them. They are the way to go.

I rack up a 1k+ game like every other day in this monster.
Bide your time until things start flying. Find a flank, maul people with missiles that don't miss, and fade during the cooldown. Ghost heat really isn't an issue, so you can keep firing on chain fire in a brawl.

I've been running similar on my Prime lately. The streaks in bulk like that are NASTY. In an excessively "funny" sort of way... Legs and arms just fly off of lights as they buzz past you.

Yeah, legs, arms, opened torsos. Nom
With a semi- decent team to hold the line before you start plunging in, its a great build.
Another advantage of the streaks, is you can fire them and barely even be facing the direction of the enemy (For damage spreading purposes. You don't need to square up to fire.)

I don't know if anyone else noticed. But clan streaks have a 360m range. Clan SRMs otherwise still only have a 270m range. huh.

I've found the Radar Deprivation Module to be essential for any close range build.

How are you guys running 2 ERLPL + 5 ERML?

None of the 3 variants of Timberwolf seems to have enough beam slots for 7 beam weapons.

I started out with my tried and true MW4 build of 2 x ERPPC 2 x LRM20 but it seems that everyone knows how to avoid LRMs in this game and am looking for something else.

I'm liking the 2 x ERPPC 1 x Gauss though.

Use the TBR-C. Center Torso has an energy hardpoint. Prime Arms and Left Torso add 5 more. S RT torso adds the 7th.

You also have to give a few drops of the blood of your first born to the dark gods of P2W. :)

Ahh, haven't really goofed around with swapping out the omnipods yet. Won't that lose my xp bonus for the 'mech?

Have been playing with the Timberwolf since launch. I'm buying a 4th when available due to the sheer variety of excellent builds. Dual gauss, dual CUAC10, streak 6 boat.. all are amazing. However if you're looking for a fantastic all-rounder, I highly recommend the following. Averages around 3 kills per match, 600-700 DMG:

Firegroup 1: 4 x ER Medium Laser - Arms (chain fire)
Firegroup 2: 2 x ER Large Laser - Torso
Firegroup 3: 2 x LRM 15 - Torso

Note: After the recent nerf, the laser vomit build is still viable, although one may want to remove one er-ML to improve the heat situation.

Yeah, you are doing it wrong.... :D

that build isn't possible anymore at all due to the heat nerfs, and I will confidently say the 5ml2largepulse timber was just AS GOOD.

With that being said, Jigglymoobs is on point with these statements:
"On the other hand, if you create a mech that's specialized in a particular thing, then all you have to do is to play a chess game where you maneuver against the enemy until you achieve that particular situation, and pounce. As soon as you do that, the fight's over, and you move on to the next victim."

"What you can't do, though, is to go 50% SRM and long range, or some combination like that, because I guarantee you will meet that other guy whose 100% SRM or 100% long range, and he's going to take one look at you, and maneuver until you are in his comfort zone, and then you are dead."

Energy,

The 5 er ML 2 LPL build wasn't just as good, it was better. The Gauss on the ST for the 7 erML timber made it all too easy to lose the entire right side. The all laser build did not have this vulnerability and you did not have to wait for the Gauss charge.

Now with the laser heat nerfs, the laser vomit (ugh, hate that name but it has caught on) is still viable, but I like running it better now with only 4 er MLs.

A side benefit of this is that you can run the build on the TBR-Prime, giving extra C-bills.

ROFL. Yes it does seem like the hero builds are sometimes designed to screw over newbies.

Not nearly as many as the ones you will gain by kicking major ass using an optimized build. :D

I didn't want the S RT because of the negative quirks so I started running 2 LPL 4 ML (plus the new heat nerfs) and it runs a bit hot with the new nerfs as well. I did 500+ damage my first 4 matches with it though.

I see dual gauss mentioned---I love gauss rifles and looked into the viability of this but the tonnage just didn't look like it was there. Did you strip off a lot of armor?

The 5ml 1gauss on the c works good, its what ive been running ever since because when you lose the gauss you still have 5 ml.

Because i had that on my c i ran 4ml 2lpl on the prime since i heard about the upcoming erll nerf and i think even that is too hot now after the latest patch. It can work well if you stay back or have a team to back you up but to play agressively in the ghetto queue its not viable anymore.

I run srms medlas or uac5s medlas for that atm.

Add seven Med. Pulse lasers.
You'll be good.

Is this still valid with the nerfs? (Poor poor clan lasers...)
