Hope someone has some updated builds. I tweaked the PRIME a bit

5 MPL
2 Artemis LRM 20 w/ 3 tons of ammo.

The pulse lasers hit about 33 heat on snowy maps and 50 on caustic valley, The LRMs run out of ammo fast.

Was thinking about changing the torsos to TBR-S and going with 4 Artemis SRM-6 and putting a LBX 20 on the right arm, filling out the left arm with however much tonnage I have left in lasers.

I run my prime all stock pod wise with what was considered "standard" before PPC nerfs, 2 x CERPPC 1 x C-Gauss. Not as common these days but I've had better luck in it than any Timberwolf build.

My TBR-C setup with the laser vomit build averages a comparable amount of damage but not as many kills.

Dropped one MPL off my model above and replaced with an extra ton of LRM ammo and one more heatsink. The four lasers do 32 damage a shot with a lot less heat. Hit 683 damage in a loss with my only game played in it. Very happy with it right now.

Hey Im looking at tthese builds and I can't manage the Guass with 7 lasers and many others the Prime Omnipod doesnt have enough slots and when I look at your builds there is -1 slots for the 1 gauss 7ML. I havn't really played since the beta, and was wondering if these builds are obsolete and they have patched the omnipods to prevent this sort of thing

I'm trying out the 1xgauss 5ERMEDL For my TBR Prime. I just can't run it. I get in and I get pounded everytime. Is this build for Long range fighting? Cus I usually end up getting in the thick of it on accident most of the time either by the map or just how my team mates get picked off. Any tips to help me out?

I run one of my TBRs in the 1 x C-Gauss 6 x C-ERML configuaration and try to keep my encounters in the 400-500 range.

I don't want to get too close because while the heat is manageable a prolonged brawl will still bring it to the cap fast against multiple opponents (or big fresh mechs) but I don't want to get so far that the ML damage is reduced significantly.

Honestly, I play it pretty much the exact same way I play 2 x C-ERPPC 1 x C-Gauss. Peek corners, find cover to play with, keep moving and hitting from all angles and look for good opportunities to take out/cripple damaged 'mechs.

I don't care what you say, the optimal solution is a TBR-Prime with side torsos swapped out for the S versions and 2xUAC/2s, possibly a PPC thrown in for good measure, and then maybe streaks for extra evil. You charge in, using that significant weight of armor and your bigass arms for shields to get to when you have a clear and easy shot straight for their eyes. Then, you just let rip with the autocannons. Between the blinding shake and explosions and smoke, they won't be able to tell if it's ******** or breakfast time, and that's before they even notice all the damage racking up. Cue the panic, while you're laying into them with a barrage of sure-fire damage, racking up all them points. So long as you don't engage more than two mechs or a Dire Wolf frontally, you'll probably be fine.

I'm having fun and success with the 40 LRM build that came stock. Adding Artemis is a bonus.

The S torsos are nice, but I'm not a fan of mandatory jump jets. They don't serve enough purpose on a heavy to justify taking up four tons.

Ok where are these godly builds everyone is crying about?
I have tried a few different setups in a Timberwolf tonight and they feel like a good Heavy, but not the I WIN mech people are claiming... I get kills if someone stands in front of me... same as I do in my Ilya or other heavies...

I can only assume I am doing the TW wrong...

That is because it is not an "I WIN" button. It is a good mech.

2x CLPL + 4x ERML is pretty solid...

I've been having a hard time lately deciding which "laser vomit" build is the "best" though.

2 x C-LPL 4 x C-ERML 54 pt alpha at the cost of 44 heat. Good range.

2 x C-LPL 5 x C-ERML 61 pt alpha at the cost of 50 heat. Good range. Lose two tons to JJs.

2 x C-LPL 4 x C-MPL 58 pt alpha at the cost of 44 heat. A little less range on the MPLs so they don't synergize as well with the C-LPLs. Less heat sinks than the ERML version, a little hotter. Cooler than the one above though.

7 x C-MPL 56 pt alpha (the penalty for 7 isn't too bad, but I still suggest firing as two groups, an arm group of 4 and the 3 in the torso) at the cost of 42 heat. Plenty of room for heat sinks as well so heat is not much of an issue but range is fairly limited. Lose two tons to JJs.

I keep going back and forth between the tradtional 2/5 build and the MPL ones.........though the MPL is ranged limited its short duration just seems to make your shots count that much more. I really like the MPL but due to range I run the 2 x CLPL/5 x CERML the most.

Overall I like the Gaus + 5 ER Medium laser and Gaus + 2 ER PPC builds over the pure laser build. At least for random drops. Pure laser gets hot really quickly on Desert levels and on some of the large levels MPL are fairly bad because of low range.

2 x C-ERPPC 1 x C-Gauss is my go to Timberwolf so I agree with you there. I've got over 400 drops in it, 3x all my other Timberwolves combined.

My other two "drop ready" Timberwolves (that means fully moduled out, mastered, etc) are:

1 x C-Gauss 6 x C-ERML

Laser Vomit, which I used to be pretty happy with the 4 and 5 C-ERML version but since the pulse laser changes I just can't settle on one and change this all the time. They all seem to have very solid pros and cons.

Posted Image 2x uac5 torso mounted, 4x er meds 9 tons of ammo max armor. (this was taken before the fixed JJ patch) as a result I was forced to lose 2 tons of ammo for 2xJJ. it is still more than enough ammo for the build, I consistently get over 1k dmg in it. and one of my two favorite builds. edit - having issues with the image hosting site, thats 1678 dmg if you cant see it
