Somewhat well awaited benchmark results for some of us. Tom's Hardware has Trinity desktop SKUs benchmarked.
They're looking good, but will need pricing to back them up.

main highlight:
1080p Gaming on an integrated GPU at over 30 frames per second, and Piledriver CPU cores benchmarked.

Though Skyrim seems to dislike AMD; (as you can see here: http://media.bestofm...inal/Skyrim.png )

Tomshardware: Y U No test Crysis 2?.... >.> <.< (it would be nice for those looking for deals should this come out in the fall and do well in CryENGINE 3.)
Oh and Diablo 3 is also playable;

End result for piledriver, which is what I'm really happy to hear; 15% faster clock-for-clock versus Bulldozer (and overall 5% faster clock for clock vs Llano)-(Hey they actually met what their marketing said? OMG! :) ), more power efficient. (Okay, so the FX-4100 which clocked at 3.6ghz, no turbo boost, and no integrated GPU consumed a 95w TDP and regularly hit higher than 160w, yet this chip is a 3.8/4.2ghz chip that peaks at 120w. That's a 40w difference at max... Yet the Piledriver based CPU has a GPU and northbridge on die to eat power as well.

My take from all this: Trinity on desktop = Going to be good for wally world specials, and....

AMD Fanboys and people who look for deals everywhere: Have hope, we may have something that can actually manage to compete so long as Haswel doesn't obliterate all expected improvements with some unseen giant boost in performance come next spring.
In the end, Vishera is looking like a great chip, should it come out at the prices the current FX series is at.

That is, at least my best projection based on what I read from this. Hopefully I'm not too wrong. Would be nice to see some heavier competition.

Currently running 2 rigs one with an 8150 and one with Intel 6 core 3930, both systems run a 6990 dual gpu card and an ssd for loading games and booting the os.

I plan on updating the 8150 to the 8350 when it's released. I really can't tell the difference between the 2 systems often, the 8000 fx series is a hell of a lot of CPU for not a lot of money.

I'm all lined up for a 7990 gpu when it comes out, the price looks a lot better than the scalper special 690 which is going for what a whole system sells for. If AMD can release the 7990 for 700 bucks or so I'll grab one or 2.

AMD will release the 7990 in quantitys you can actually buy, I've seen the 690 on eBay only for 1200 to 1400 dollars. So I just kinda laughed at that, that's a paper launch or as close as you can get when you can't just buy the damn thing on newegg.
