While the bacon vats are running at overcapacity, it is apparently their time to have their weekend.

What do you expect for a bacon Marik bacon filled weekend of carnage, outside of what we saw of the Steiner challenge?

What if the list is only Atlai? That would be epic.

Model numbers generally tell who produced it.

M = Marik (CDA-3M, AWS-9M, etc)
L = Liao (RVN-3L, CTF-3L, etc)
S = Steiner (BNC-3S, LCT-3S, etc)
D = Davion(AS7-D, CTF-3D, etc)
K = Kurita (AS7-K, FS9-K, etc)

There are some other ones that I don't remember, but none that are important to MWO.

Well... if I'm to believe Sarna...

http://www.sarna.net...hee_(BattleMech)

Quote

The Banshee, introduced in 2445 by the Terran Hegemony[4][5], is a 'Mech that was designed specifically for close-assault operations during the early years of BattleMech warfare.

So, I look into what that (in bold) is/was..

http://www.sarna.net...Terran_Hegemony

There's a few references to Marik... particularly here...

Quote

During the negotiations to end the Third Andurien War, he found an ally in Captain-General Albert Marik. Beginning with the 2556 treaty of Geneva between the League, Confederation, and Hegemony, the ultimate success of Terran diplomacy began to take shape. Similar treaties were signed following the next decade and a half, until the Star League was officially proclaimed on July 9, 2571, with the Director-General as its hereditary First Lord. [17]

So, I'd say possibly.

Disclaimer: I am not a BT historian, nor I claim to be one. I just read sarna. SORRY.

Don't plan on having a marik challenge. People would get so mad they're getting killed so fast they would all start uninstalling :(

A free Mech Bay for every faction challenge??? Not complaining, well not really, but does seem a tad weird they are being so "nice". Hopefully it'll a different from 20 kills and perhaps something easier for newer F2Ps to get.

I'm expecting another "Kill twenty slimes within 48 hours to complete your quest" challenge. Maybe they replace x kills with y victories or z kill assists, but basically another grind for a $2 reward.

Prove me wrong, Nico. Give us a real challenge!

tbh, i'd rather it be kills than it be something like "Win and have the highest match score on your team 40 times for a thing"

Mech Bays are one of the few things people absolutely need that cost MC, everything else you can side-step if you are okay with the grind. Yes its nothing in monetary cost, but for those unable or unwilling to pay these challenges are important for giving them more options to get/play more Mechs.

They are probably doing this because I have heard nothing about the 10-12 clan-IS that was supposed to go on this weekend.

You mean the "private lobby 10 vs 12 Clans vs IS" matches? Those ones? Yeah...

It will cost some C-bills to get the "correct mech" that will comply with the challenge... which is less than a likely scenario for a newer player. It becomes "worse" if the challenge is "above their abilities".

isnt that where at least one valid trial mech comes in for new people to participate in the challenge??

Like the Steiner Challenge, there will be Trials that will be factionally incorrect but allowed to so people who don't own Marik/PGI's idea of Marik Mechs can take part. Not saying it'll be super easy, yeah its as much a grind as anything is without premium time, but as mentioned for those who can't/won't pay cash the mech bay has even more value than for you and me.

Indeed it will be very important.

Also since I just got 2 spare mechbays the other day wining a 3rd will let me work on 3 vindis at the same time if I choose to.

It's a major handicap.

Do this for yourself. Build the same/similar build as any of the trial mechs that you have at elited out. The difference in performance is astounding.

I collected the "simple" 5-trial mech wins as an Achievement with the Cicada-2A Trial/Champ. It felt NOTHING like the mech I used way back when... despite that build being fairly solid and for the most part "optimal". This is even before we factor in modules.

While trial mechs are "playable", it's really like playing with one hand behind your back compared to a mastered mech with the same build.
