Ok, we all know that we need more game modes.

I propose a mode where each team has a stationary mech repair bay. This bay should be destructible in the same manner as the turrets. Mechs should only be able to repair non-destroyed portions of their mechs i.e. armor.

Extra points should be awarded for destroying the mech repair bay.

I don't know maybe it would just encourage camping, but it would sure be nice to have a new game mode.

Thoughts.

I bet we'll see something like that if we ever see an extended siege type game mode

Funny thing is I was looking at those raised ramps on HPG Manifold, the ones that have electric currents arcing underneath them, and thinking, "I wonder if they could use those as repair bays?

The repair on armor should have diminishing returns though. So your max armor is reduced each time.

It would make the idea of rushing their base more appealing.

Lord I hope not. I don't want a Mechwash where we drive through and come out shiny and new. Now having a destructible base or stock pile to defend I can get behind. And I stink at defense!

It shouldn't be needed honestly, back in the days of MW4 leagues, there were a few repair bay maps. More often than not the bases were susceptible to pushes if you pushed immediately and didn't do the peek and poke and then push tactic. Granted those maps often had repair bays in some base area away from the DZs so lights would either race to protect or destroy the repair bays.

One in particular was fun watching a team running around trying to find a repair bay that wasn't busted all the while getting arrowed to death from 2km out.

Im all for destructible repair bay maps, they were a fun memory of the MW4 leagues and changed the pace of matches a little (also gave something more for those little mechs to do).

What if the repair bays were in mid map and you had to capture it or something?

In MW4 you had to shutdown and wait for the repairs to complete (more repairs meant more time spent). Repairs didn't take but 15 seconds to repair the most damaged mechs but you also gotta remember, destroyed components or sections remained destroyed. So if you were a stick, you will stay a stick for the rest of the match.

I see that as a reasonable way to go about repair bays.

I really don't want to see repair bays, but knowing PGI we will see them some day.
So the only way repair bays should work is it take time to repair no walk thru mech repair.

I like the idea. Other MW games sections and components would remain destroyed, but what if only your exterior armor was repaired? Might stop battles from dragging on and on and on and...

No. Armor repairs take hours to reattach, I don't want arcade garbage.

And an engine, internals, armor, weapons, and equipment takes weeks to replace yet we can do it in seconds, your point?

How long does it take to get from the planet you were just on to the new location? See when launching a new game we don't have the hand wavium of Jump time. How many jumps from point A to point B Each Jump is a 2 week delay as solar collectors recharge jump engines. So if say you have 4-6 Jumps you have 8-12 weeks down time for R&R. NOt walk in 45 seconds later back in fighting trim. No thanks, not wanted here.

No, I don't want to see repair bays which magically make your 'Mech working again. It doesn't make sense, really, considering these 'Mechs are known to take many days to get back into fighting shape. I'm all for the attack/defend mode, if they get it right, but repair bays seem a little... cheap.

Who says each battle is running from planet to planet?

Either way, they were an interesting addition to the game in MW4. Those maps were a great change of pace when they sprang up, they changed the priority for teams at least in the initial stages of the battle. Forget realism, we lost that a long time ago, let alone before the arty/air strikes came into play. I just want some maps/game modes that change the pace of the game, and repair bays will do that (and not hurt the game at all).

Even if it isn'tSilver, There is HOURS If not DAYS that are hand wavium between hitting the launch button. I just will puke if there is On field Instant repairs of internal damage ammo reloads et al. I don't want any more Arcade garbage in MW:O.
