Trumpet is on the RT... you can see it in some of the screenshots uploaded by people.
Took 13 games (only 4 of which were wins) to even break even KDR on this thing... you think it'll do something new, and it looks brawly... but god is this mech awful particularly solo. I had to settle on a completely heat neutral build that let me punish people who overheated with 2 quick alpha's, and remain at the back sniping by hill humping behind my team.
Put this thing behind heavier mechs, and it can deal out the damage as it sits ignored, and keep the range and the side mounted energy make it perfect to hill/building hump. Back up lasers with SRM's for a quick punch and I can do 2-3kills and 600 dmg in a good game. However it is so lackluster that my first 8 games it NEVER broke 100dmg until I found my build... first time it did 500+dmg was when I followed 2 Dire Wolf's the entire game who killed 7 and 4 enemy each respectively.
If this mech had ECM it would've been the perfect guard dog that the Kit Fox plays at in the current meta gameplay. It has enough punch to walk with others tanking damage and the efficiency to back it up. I think the AA speedster and a cooler running ballistic might change the scope of the Vindy's gameplay.

This 'mech is DOA, plain and simple. Here are my stats, as compared to the Blackjacks (same tonnage) and Griffins (similar hardpoints). There's obviously a problem here.
You don't have anywhere near enough matches in either of those chassis for your conclusion to have any meaningful weight. You haven't even broken 100 matches with any of those chassis as a whole, let alone a particular variant, so you'll forgive me when I tell you that you probably just haven't figured out how to play it, yet. And, frankly, your Blackjack scores thus far are pretty average and I don't even want to know what builds you used to get them.
It's a good start, though. Keep playing with it and you should eventually figure it out.

Figured that at first, but it keeps telling me: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.
Anyway, I took a picture standing next to a Griffin:

It is small enough.

Smurfy.
1AA gets bigger engine limit + double AA. 295 engine limit.
1R gets the most energy hardpoints. 235 limit.
1X gets the ballistic. 235 limit.
Saint Ives gets 2 missile and 250 engine limit.

Yup, it's a hero mech, all right.

You know what though, if it was "too" special people would be screaming "Pay to Win".
The 1X and 1AA look like the best variants to me. 1X has ballistics and 1AA has dual AMS.

Twin SRMs trumps anything else the other Vindicators can do, though.
25.8 damage in 6 heat. (Spread) (Just the 2 SRM-6s and nothing else added yet).
Other variants can get: 20 damage in 20 heat. (Pinpoint; PPCs.)
25 damage in 20 heat (spread, yay lasers and overly hot; with canon ML heat values that'd be 15 heat).
20.8 damage in 5 heat (Gauss Rifle + 1 MG + 1 ML for 1 second).
Kinda can't rival it.
Though honestly... 64.8 kph is normal for most mediums, lights, heavies and assaults of the Inner Sphere. Typically for lights the ones moving that slow have incredible firepower and armor... which means absolutely nothing in MWO due to PGI reasons.
On a side note, here is what good firepower and good armor allocation can do for you.

WTF?!
Seriously, the regular variants get the exact same engine caps as the BJ... more and more i'm buying into the QQing that PGI is just swapping skins.
Why can't one 45 ton mech be allowed to have completely different engine caps than another? When the hell is PGI going to grasp the fact that "balanced" does NOT NECESSARILY MEAN "equal"?
Ugh. Just..... ugh.

It needs different starting engines.
A 45 ton mech has intervals of 45.
45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, 315, 360 are the only possible stock engines for a 45 ton mech.
All numbers in between are PGI bullshit, and not battletech.
The 270 engine and 315 engine mechs will either have lots of small weapons or absolute garbage for hardpoints, just to mention it.
