There is only one Heavy IS mech during the invasion that can even up to the T-Wolf. And that mech is...

The Black Knight?

Its a laser boat, but at least the new art designs for it look badass?

Heavy/Assault Laser boats are just bad in the current game balance. ;)

Panther could conceivably go the Kit Fox route and be a support Light with heavier armor. I mean, *WHEN* they release the Urbanmech, it'll have that, too - not as fast, but heavily armored.

Most light mechs already run close to max armor. The Panther/Urbie don't get any more than Jenners and Ravens.

Could wind up being a new heavy Hero mech. Tbolt doesn't have a hero yet...

Gotta disagree. I've always been a laser-who're (ha! take that filter!) and have no problem racking up kills and damage in my laser based MWO mechs.

My CTF-3D with 1xAC10 and 3xLLs does very, very well. My 4xLPLs Misery shreds enemies pretty quickly too. And I've just recently tried a JM6FB with 2xERL + 4MLs that has surprised me with tons of kills and a great KDR despite only being basic'd.

Admittedly, I'm a medium pilot so i don't have many Heavies or Assaults to draw my conclusions from. But those few i do have, perform better (for me) with energy than they do with ballistics.

Mercury and Hermes are out because they're both MASC mechs, right?

Panther would be a good bet - they seem to be releasing more faction-specific mechs.

Warhammer's out - Harmony Gold owns the rights.  Same with the Archer, Longbow, Marauder, and Pheonix Hawk.  A few others who are slipping my mind at the moment.
HG "Claims" the rights, the Japanese courts have said that the rights belong to Studio Nue, and they won't talk to HG anymore, and the people HG currently "license" it from don't have the ability to grant such a long lasting license. Just no one in NA want's to fight the fight to free up the "Macross" licenses.

Back on topic, given we've already have one patch slip due to migration, will there be a new chassis released in September at all?

The grasshopper would an excellent choice. The I.S. could use a 70ton zombie and would fill a role needed for the heavy bracket. All of the I.S. heavy's are either squishy XL gun boats or support mechs like the catapult.

It's pretty much down to Grasshopper or Black Knight in the heavy category as far as I can tell.

I'd rather see a Grasshopper, personally. The 70 and 75 ton categories could be expanded upon.

It'll be Shadowhawk, Locust or Thunderbolt hero I'm fairly sure. I hope they add the Grasshopper and Cyclops soon though.

I am too hoping it will be the Grasshopper. One of my favourite mechs. Fast jumping heavy, and it even has an ECM variant. There is no ECM heavy in game so far.

I think the Mauler will be up pretty soon. I don't know about "next" but soon. It has the dual AC20/Guass ability that the IS needs right now.

I think they'll save the King Crab for a "Clan Buster" pack later on this year.

The right answer is... Pillager 1N, JJ's +3E hardpoints just waiting for LL's + 1M + Dualwelding AC20. A pure 100 tons heavy pain in the azz. Remember dat movie... "Aliens", there is big one to handle.

Posted Image PLG-1N The original Pillager, fielded for the first two decades of the Reunification War[4], uses a standard Fusion Engine instead of the Extralight model that went into production. Other limitations include a 60 meter jump range and 17 tons of armor. The weapons suite was also different, relying on twin torso mountedAutocannon/20s, a single SRM-4, and three Medium Lasers; one mounted in each arm and a head-mounted laser firing to the rear. Sixteen single heat sinks kept the heat under control.
