Third win. This time we had a commander. We basically followed his orders. When we had some stragglers worried about enemies behind us, I waited at the ordered point, turned around and held guard. "Keep moving," I gave some urgency, "I've got your back. I can't cover you there."

From one spot across most of the game, I could attack the enemy flankers, lob missiles at the enemies in the center (without being at line of sight or even level with them), and turn around and lob missiles at the flanking team ahead of our group. It was really quite relaxing. My 52 oz cup from racetrac even ran out.

Like I said before, when I want to carry the team I use an LRM-brawler. This guy isn't anywhere near as good as my Highlander LRM-brawler, but so long as I'm using it I won't see many Warhawks on the other team.

I must say though, our Commander (the Griffin who also was LRMs) and our spotter (the Spider) really got the short ends of the reward stick.

You don't really know how fragile Dire Wolves are, do you?
Just wait until you try that.

wow i rarely post to the forums but guys i have read some of these comments and they boggle my mind...
50 wins is a lot of pug wins.
DUH they are are giving you 6.5mill cbills on top of your earnings for the games you played. probably gonna average out to a ton of money if you complete it this is awesome!! i can get enough money with this to buy all 3 vindicator variants when they come out for cbills or people could use the 6.5M boost to save easier for a CLAN MECH!!! this is only a good thing
do not complain.

Wait so PGI is going to pay me to win? Well considering that I don't have to pay them to win at this game that is AWESOME ;)
Thank you and NO I am not being sarcastic.
It's about time some people got to play alone and see just how good they really are at this game myself included.
Humility with gifts is nice thank you PGI.

I much prefer personal challenges that are actually based on personal performance. 300+ damage matches, survival, the previous point-based challenge, etc. Wins are so dependent on randoms, most especially in solo drops, that this is far more about match spam than it is anything else.

I have found that the most reliable way to make quick progress is to be hyper aggressive and disconnect once you die. You contribute a bit to the team, then get in another match. If your randoms were good enough, you get a win. If not, you have three or four mechs in matches at a given time so who cares?

Naturally, this method is terrible, both as far as enjoyment goes and as far as everybody else on your team is concerned. One should never incentivise terrible actions, yet that's exactly what this challenge does.

Assuming an average match time of roughly 8 minutes, plus 2 for loading screens and such, that's around 10 minutes per match. With the MM ostensibly trying to achieve a 50% win rate, you should need 100 matches to get 50 wins. That's 1000 minutes, or 16 hours and 40 minutes of playing. Even assuming that a person can play friday, saturday, sunday, and monday, that's over 4 hours per day.

I get the feeling that the vast majority of players will be aiming for 10 wins and then being done.

Yeah, so I was 9-4 when the matchmaker decided enough was enough.

I'm now 9-10 and my disgust with the matchmaker has reached new heights.

Awesome!

FINALLY an event that doesn't involve killing stuff! I'd be interested in the data collected from this event compared to previous events focused on kills to achieve rewards.

Good stuff!

If you play the way you are saying i'm pretty sure you will need closer to 200 matches to get your 50 wins if you are dying fast enough to have 4 mechs in game at once its unlikely your team will be able to make up for it. best way to do it is play an assault and carry I'm not sure how many games I played but I think i'm at 12 wins and 4 losses so far.

Why dose this have to be Solo Only? So many terrible players and my ELO is making sure that my team dosent last the first 5 min of a match. Im always last one alive with 2 or 3 kills but always going to be a loss.

if you are Always the last one alive chances are you are not being aggressive enough.

Holy Crap!!!

If my win loss average is correct then I have to play 90 games to get my 50 victories!

That means 1350 minutes or 22.5 hrs in the saddle during the next 96 hrs...

ain't gonna happen...

6.5 million cbills isnt worth playing an extra 60 games for (if you figure at worst a 50% win rate)

Yeah, but do you REALLY need the 6.5 million? Getting the first 20 is good enough. You probably will make several million while working your way up to the 50 wins.
