I am still a bit far from the 50th victory, but managed to get the 7 days pretty fast. However I think I can formulate a better valid opinion on this challenge:
  • 50 wins seems too much for the prize that's being offered. 30 to 40 would be more fair.
  • My first 20 wins were almost consecutive, but after that the Elo stroke back and I got to face a desert of around 10 losses in a row before I managed to get back on track again.
  • Not allowing teams, the even destroys (for a weekend) many team activities and trainings. Even if there are people interested on playing as team, there will always be those who are committed to the challenge and give it playtime priority.
  • Despite disconnect and suicide farmers, I had some of the best PUG action in months. Thank you for that.
Bottom line: good initiative but should be tuned/adapted further. Thank you.

I got to 20 wins and stopped. It's fairly easy to use the Premium time when you want to use it : you count how many games you won, once you reach the twentiest win you quit the game. The challenge will be registered about 15mn later you can check it on the website. Then you log back in the game when you want to start using your 7 days of Premium, and you'll be able to redeem it at that moment.

I stopped playing after 21 rounds, that i needed for the "10". Awful gamingexperience.Sadly. I had 2(!) rounds in which i felt something like fun. Most where Clan/Arty/LRM-fests...

Hi again.

Some suggestions for the next possible challenge:

​Allow groups but also award solo drops
  • When in a group the earnings will be split by the number of players in that group
  • When solo, full earnings will be awarded to the player as well as each player in a group (since they face other groups and not just solo drop players)
Reasons:



- One new player needs to be able to complete a challenge without a group
- If the challenge isn't interesting enough for everyone in a team except "you", doesn't mean "you" can't try your luck without a group
- Having a group of people with you makes the gaming experience less frustrating in most cases, can also bring some better outcome. But if you are solo dropping and facing a few people on groups, the task of winning is usually harder will certainly be interesting for other players in groups, so open it to both situations.
  • Stick with the multiple award system
Reasons:



- This way there will be more people interested in the challenge. There are a few people who just don't worry much about new Mechbays.
  • Do inform the users if the Premium Time is automatically activated
Reasons:



- People need to know what they are getting from the challenge. As a fortunate example, I achieved my 20th win on Friday and went to bed. Good thing I did it, since Saturday when I logged in my Premium has just started. Would feel lousy if the Premium would kick in Friday just because I either wasn't paying close attention to the wins I was getting, or just because I was enjoying playing so much that I wanted to do "just one more drop".

Ok, PGI thanks again for something different. Please do take note of some of these suggestions for the future.

EDIT 2 - DO NOT AWARD players who disconnect in the first 2 minutes of the match. I mean, starting a match only to DC and get the award in case the team wins is cheap and makes it a whole lot harder for the team to win, especially if the player disconnecting is in a heavy or assault 'mech.

Like the concept of a tiered challenge, but after an 8-hour grind just to get 22 wins, I'm nearly burnt out from playing the solo queue and may not continue on to the 50 wins. The solo queue at my ELO is either hit or miss and most of the time it seems as though players are just charging in hoping others will carry for a win. Maybe next time they'll allow group and solo games to count towards the challenge just to spice things up.

Just a few thoughts:
1) Solo drops only is disappointing. If next week it's a group drop only award or groups are encouraged to welcome in unit creation, I may retract that statement.

2) Nice rewards. Though, the 7 days premium time auto-redeeming is a pain. If I manage to get the time to get it this weekend, I know I won't be playing much next weekend, and 50 wins is a bit steep for the cash, as it might be rough to get for folks who most need it, but the fact that it's there is nice.

3) Nice to see some contest variety. I was expecting another limited mech selection weekend.

4) I hope to see more tiered release challenges like this.

5) Maybe a double C-Bill weekend eventually?

Really don't get the "solo only" clause.

It is REALLY a downer playing PUG matches when your used to the level of cooperation going on with the groups. Almost like a lottery: "will I get a team this time?", "oh... 5 dead already... resisting the urge to just suicide..."

The 50 wins weren't too hard, took 84 matches and enabled me to master every chassis I wanted. As far as teams go, allowing teams to compete would be too easy. We'd just form a 10 man team and suspect we'd have 50 wins much faster than 84 matches.

Advice to PGI:
Allow group queue next time and do reward tanking, damage, scouting, narcing, kills, wins, etc... with points!

After the first 150 matches my elo was so stomped to the ground that things became easy again, TDK with 4 flamers started to appear on enemy team, etc.

Not even that. The item gets redeemed as soon as you are in the mechlab -- the dialog just tells you about it. You would have to literally Alt+F4 the client after winning the 20th match, and only log back in when ready to play.

Nikolai said Auto-activates on clicking Redeem so when I ran MWO this morning, I got the box and I don't remember if the box to click was Redeem or a simple OK to clear the message. If it was Redeem then I guess I could have killed the client and wait until ready. If it was an OK then nothing I could do other than first check the challenge page to see it I got to 20 and then decide to run or not the game. I just looged in for a single match and that was enough to activate. Oh well.

Maybe something like this?
Get 1,000 points = Mechbay
Get 2,000 points = 7 Days of Premium Time
Get 5,000 points = 6.5 Million C-bills

Win = 100 points
Kill = 5 points each
Assist = 1 point each
Damage = 1 point per 100 damage
Spot Assist = 1 point each

And so on...

This way you still get more for winning the match & helping the team, but you can still at least make some progress if your team gets ROFLstomped.

That would certainly be an improvement over this, but I fear we would still see a bunch of suicide farmers. Its still a good idea.

As far as the auto-redemption of premium times goes, I think it is necessary. A lot of us have banked premium time, which without auto-redemption would start ticking as a group. This auto-injection of a small aliquot lets us enjoy a week of that time without activating the bulk of time saved.

Finally finished last night around 1:00 am 50 wins complete. Maybe i am just more used to the solo que then a lot of other people but i felt i had some great games the past couple nights. Seeing more UAVs and less arty for sure, and people actually going for bases and capture points in assault and conquest. I did not witness unusual amounts of d/cs or suicide farming at least on my teams side. Mater of fact it seemed to me people were making an attempt to work together a little bit more then normal in an effort to get their wins. but then perhaps i was just super lucky or got stuck in the sweet spot for ELO :ph34r: Most of my games were completed in a Kitfox with a little bit of firebrand and some cicada 3m near the end of last night.
