If brawling is dead, it's because you and your teammates don't have the gonads to go pick a fight.
Most of the rest of us who don't use steering wheels in our mechs seem to do just fine at it.
But I guess it needs to go back to be "skill based" where whoever brings the most toaster pastries, wins?

LOL indeed.
In one match yesterday, all it took for brawling to start was for me to type in chat:
"I'm tired of this ****! BANZAI!!!"
and charge into the enemy. Much brawling ensued soon after.

game wont get better in 6 months. Planetside 2 was alot better a year ago, since then its gone down hill. No games improve over time. MWO, the UI went from moderately better to what we have now....
It went from convergeance on guns, to PPFLD everything. Now the Clans will be the new Nerf bat candidates until hell freezes over, just making them even less fun or amusing.

it has nothing to do with the ability to brawl. Learn to read posts. I love brawling, i love my arrow with 3ml, 4mg, lbx10. its just not as fun now that the whole time you are brawling all you see is inc missle on your hud, so if you are brawling bring a friend with ecm or forget it.

Maybe you should make your way towards the LRM boats and brawl with them before you wander out into open territory. There's no reason to simply engage the first enemy you bump into.
Watch the skies, you'll see the missiles streaking the air towards your teammates. Home in on that location. Brawl to your hearts content.

Read initial post please. I dont brawl in the open nor do I rarely even go in the open unless i'm legging to the next cover. Which in itself is boring

So its not fun when your opponent won't let you play Your game. How fun do you think it would be for those who use missiles if they were nerfed again? I brawl, Snipe and Fire Support, because fighting is not meant to be one dimensional. You sound like you are brawling the wrong Mechs if while you are fighting to the Knife, you are being rained on. Pick the Fire support first, they are often left to fend for themselves cause teamwork is sorely lacking in PUG Que.
Darn it Fut. You

Seriously though, the only people who don't brawl are the cowards who sit around a hill and peek over and over while chunks of them keep flying off due to gauss fire, yet they still keep peeking until they die. I guess they're waiting for the enemy to come to them, but yeah that's now how it works when you're in a brawling mech. (Hint: you have to go to them)

I love poptarts, wish they would sell the good ones more often in Australia outside of the random stores that do US imports.

Thanks. You've been here less than a year Sonny, you only have authorization to grumble under your breath for at least another 6 months. At which time you will be allowed to shake your virtual fist at those on your MW:O lawn.

Please understand, this is not an insult. But your problems here are 100% a learn-to-play issue. Brawling is alive and well in this game, and really quite common. You don't see that, because you're new, and LRM's are easy to use against other new players.
However, the time will come - soon, if you pay attention to what peoplebsay in these threads - when you'll treasure enemy LRM boats, because LRM's are the worst class of weapons in the game right now.
This is because *even if used skillfully* LRM's are unique in having very many entirely passive defenses, as well as active ones. All of which can blunt or entirely negate your opponents weapons.
Run Radar Deprivation. Use cover. Use AMS. Stick with friendly ECM.
Soon, as you build skills and learn how easy it is to totally avoid LRM's, you'll find yourself in Elo bands where few people even bother to use LRM's anymore.
