ok i was looking at stuff for the x4 and found it was all pretty old so i felt it might be a good time to review this mech and its sisters

so my 2nd mech ever was my x4 and with time i found a very good build that iv never seen any one else run so here we go

2 ac10s 1 in each arm ammo 6tons
2 mguns 1 in each arm ammo 1 ton
2 mlasers in ct
1 ssrm 2 in the head ammo 1 ton (can be traded for a srm2/4 if u per-fur)
std 250 eng dhs 10 all in eng
armor is near max you need to trim a little for tonage

so cataphract fans what builds do you use there a lot you can do with these girls if you toy with them so post what you have even make comments on my build here but lets give these mechs a little love

mine is very similar, But i pass on the streaks, and instead add BAP for brawling, just a single streak i don't find worth it. You can also swap out the ML's for a pair of pulse if that is your thing. It hits a little harder up close, but ya do lose some range. I find with BAP+pulse the lights with ECM are not worrisome.

What engine are you using?

Also, for future reference, I think using http://www.mwo.smurfy-net.de to post builds would save you time and effort.

I don't really take my cataphracts out much these days, but occasionally when I want some dakka-action I use the 2xAC2 / 2xUAC5 build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...28d099b4ff39840

There isn't a lot of extra ammo in this build, but I've always been pretty careful to only take shots I know will hit. I suppose you could drop the mediums and maybe some heatsinks for more ammo, but I haven't found it necessary.

i seriously love my fire support 4x its my fav cataphract

yeah she is slow but 4 x AC5 on chainfire brings great pleasure and people literally are terrorized when u hammer their faces in with what sounds like a gigantic gatling cannon
just all AC5, all ammo, all aiming controlled from the arms, amazingly heat efficient u dont need any heatsinks at all

thats with a xl255 thou.. its just as good with std 255 and 3 AC5 + whatever extras u want like tag, ams etc or u can sub one for a ultraAc5 the difference in std engine survivability is noticeable and is more forgiving

i love it because its so simplistic and raw, just escort a friendly assault and lay down some boom booms

i ran an ac/10 1 srm4 dual medium laser 4x, as well as a dual guass with 70 rounds std 255 engine 4x, both were great fun

As someone said above, the 4X is a great dakka mech. I've run it Dual AC/10, dual LB-10/X, dual Gauss, quad AC/5, dual AC/2 & dual uAC/5.

It can also do quad AC/2s, but it gets very hot very quickly. I think I've only run that build once or twice.

Dual gauss on the 4X. One of my favorites.

I have a hoot with my 4x.

This is a ranged mech..It's a little squishy because it's kinda slow and it has an XL engine( Usually not a great idea in a Heavy, but range is your friend.) It does have a 'SCARE' factor....

XL225
(2) AC5
(2) AC2
(2) ML
(1) extra heat sink to give you 10

12 Ton of ammo how ever you like. 13 or 14 Tons if your willing to run less armor on the legs...

Rat-a-tat-tat.. !!!!!
