I am all for shooting at pirates. I'd do it for the salvage rights (I trust my ppc to the face aim.)

Just think, with this planet being all the way on the back side of Federated Suns territory, all the pirates who know what's good for them will congregate there, just to hide from the solahma units.

Sabanillas is located near the spinward and rimward edge of the Federated Suns (on the coreward side of the Edgeward Beta (Minette) combat theatre/Broken Wheel combat region of the Crucis March) - less than a dozen jumps from either Tortuga Dominions or the Pirates Haven Cluster. Between these attacks and the attacks in the Taurian Concordat, there's something brewing out in those pirate states.

Interestingly, Sabinillas is also home to the Sabanillas Mining Company, which produces (among other things) Merlin class medium 'mechs. (Or at least has a few experimental ones by the mid-3060s; it's unclear if they had the capacity to produce them prior.) In addition to the great material wealth of Sabanillas (Tortuga Prime is nearly depleted of minerals and nearing ecological exhaustion), a 'mech production facility would make a tempting target to pirate raiders.

Amusingly, Sabanillas also has a moon named "Prostitute Rock". There has to be an interesting story behind that...
