I've made purchases, but no investments in this game. If only PGI paid me a share of their profits...

On the contrary to two posts up, my Founder's pack was the best purchase. I have some extremely fond memories of the game in Closed Beta, and await this game's return to that style of gameplay.

(I can hope, anyway).

Founder's package. I've gotten a lot of fun game play from MWO... most of it around 1.5 to 2 years ago. I should have stopped buying things after that first investment.

Glowing Atlas eyes, man. Once upon a time, that unit was scary.

You should join us tonight at 9PM EST for Stock Mech Monday. I bet that would bring back a little of the joy you had in Closed Beta.

I was showing up to either Monday or Wednesday for a while, but with classes starting again soon, I've been trying to get back onto a morning schedule/getting my lectures in order. I'll probably start showing up around mid-September again on Wednesdays once I get into the groove a bit.

Also, the Atlas was just scary because it was bad-arsed pre-upgrades. I still fear running into one in Stock nights. The glowing eyes were a nice touch though... until dual guass K2's started happening. Then it was a walking "shoot me here" neon sign. Of course, they did fix the Atlas head hit box finally.... It might be more fun if the Atlas eye's glowed for a while after making a kill, or dealing damage, or take damage... some kind of trigger... OMG it's ticked off!

Always nice to see a Comp player eschew the Meta, to masochistically play a Dragon! If more would do that, more often, probably less people would be inclined to have such negative opinions of the Compie Crowd.

Just like you said in your post, those closed beta glory days :D

In all honesty my DRG-1C probably has the most hours played of any mech I own, but those were racked up before they started tracking mech stats.

Toss up between the Founders and the Clan. I got crazy amounts of xp stored on the CPLT-C1, but the Kit Foxes are just too much fun and normally hate piloting lights.

Investments are not exclusive to monetary gain...but nice troll attempt. I'll give it a 2/10 because you have 4 z's in your name.

Best thing I've done with the game is join the Warpigs merc unit. Having a group of people to drop with and acually work as a team makes the game a hell of a lot more fun than just random 11 other players. Purchase wise it was founders and the sarah jenner. Founders let me try all the mech types and my play style and the c bill boost helps with grinding up for new mechs to use.

My top three most used mechs since stats came on the web site:

C1: CATAPULT CPLT-C1 212 109 102 1.07 152 133 1.14 60,995 184,066

K2: CPTL-K2 218 104 114 0.91 160 160 1.00 52,533 138,440

GRID IRON LIMITED EDITION 163 82 80 1.03 102 116 0.88 36,832 105,906

Not sure if you've seen Jager in his 8x Mlas hunchback solo queue drops on twitch, is definitely a fun watch.

Honestly most of the time I've run into the SJR guys they seem to be running a wide variety of stuff and doing well regardless.

@OP: Some of the clan mechs, Illya, Firebrand & Misery.

In truth, it's often more the second tier Comp Teams that are going full tryhard against the smaller units I see run full Meta. I guess seeing a bunch of Randoms and or PUGs get rekt is a handy salve for the butthurt heaped on them by the Top Tier Compies?

That said, there are certain top tier players I have never once encountered in anything but full Meta, and a few I have never once seen PUG. Like all things, not all units are composed of like Mentalities. There are some insecure d-bags in every unit.

Although I did get some use out of the Founders Pack (Cat C1 and Hunch 4G specifically), I would say it is a Tie between my Ilya Hero and the Shadow Hawk Phoenix.

Least worth it is the Misery Hero (I STILL think I enjoyed my Locust 1V more).

Honorable Mention: Urbanmech (classy) bobblehead. Totally worth it.

Sadly my first investment made in MWO was horrible and has driven me to probably never spend money again.
