Love the parts of maps that we currently have that are urban style, and this map looks amazing all urban with plenty of structures to go knife fighting in and out of.

The map was fun but I got stuck almost every time we played it. They still have a lot of work to do.

One or two months is a much sadder but more likely outcome.

I don't think this map will launch tomorrow. Way too many stuck on map bugs that need to be sorted out.

It is a really nice map though, I really like it.

it was great fun to explore in a Spider on the public test, I do agree there were more than a few bugs (based on the complaints of my teammates) so I would expect it middle of September to give PGI time to eliminate the bugs

Stay off the pipes, don't diagonal off the ramps, and if your a JJ light you better stick to small calculated jumps or your Meat for the Beast.

My only real complaint with that map was the boring skybox. Too Terra. Small detail, perhaps, but if I'm playing on another world, I want to feel like I'm on another world. Canyon Network did a real good job of making this subtle reminder:

This is an in game pic? Looks great. What's the key to remove the ui?

Shift + F11 or F12

I believe some mechs have the cockpit disapear as well, but not many. You'll have to pick the proper mech, and then zoom to get the beams out of the picture.

Next week?

Probably 6 weeks to 2 months, realistically.

Russ stated out PTS on it was before Internal Testing even, and that should everything run smooth, to expect 5 weeks or so to have it "production ready".

So, since our Patches are still on a 2 week cycle, overall, figure that to read 6 weeks, IF nothing major comes up.

It needs a pretty major overhaul really. Anywhere there's a gap, there's an inescapable vortex waiting to devour mechs. Also, I saw a TW stuck against a wall with pipes overtop of it.

Fun map though. Small, but a lot of vertical space that doesn't feel like the choice is mountain, or not mountain.

Nothing but the smoke and fire moves on the Industrial map ehh? I do wish they'd make the maps a bit more interactive. Moving cranes and stuff like that would have added a lot to this one.

As it is, that map nearly wrecks my FPS..

I wish they would optimize first.

Mars.

Point being, "Terra" looks like many other planets with a sun and an atmosphere. The look of Terra is not exclusive to Terra.

Yeah, realistically, the tidal forces on the Canyon map world would make that place somehing of a hellhole, it would be volcanic (like Io), have horrific earthquakes, and there's no way it would sustain life as we know it.

Looks cool though.

I'm well aware of that. But this is fiction. Doesn't mean these generic, fictional planets can't be given a unique flavor to make them more memorable. Doesn't even take much. Two moons. Three suns. Rings seen from the surface. Artificial satellites visible from the ground. Something.

Say what you will about Halo (I'm not a fan), but the skyboxes are exceptionally memorable:

It's matter of personal taste for sure. I personally prefer the more Earth-like atmospheres/environments because it makes it instantly more recognizable and therefore easier to suspend disbelief.

The crazier, more fantastical environments are a little harder to connect with. Not that I mind them...I just like to see familiar settings that are skewed ever so slightly...so that they are subtly surreal, but not too outlandish/ridiculous.
