These were taken 20 minutes before the servers went down. Lights will be back in a major way if they didn't fix hit detection.

TBH, I found myself just driving lights since everyone wanted to go Assault+Heavy and I'm pretty sure I'd be more useful than the opposing Light I'd have to face/counter.

Yep same reason I went back to them too. Instant match launches are nice!

In those pics above I just stood there playing "find the hit box that registered". It was hilarious in that one pic with the component destruction where I tapped a fresh leg and it blew off the raven's shoulder instead. Wasn't decyncing at all and when that raven eventually did die, went on to go complete the match.

When a pilot is disconnected the position of the mech on the server is typically different than the position client side. That was the cause of the hit reg problems and the weird component destruction, not light hitboxes. The same thing would have happened with an Atlas.

I reequipped my Mech with Streaks - running at Point Blank distance after a Kit Fox pumping ~10 Shots of LBX, SRM4, ML, MG into its back and getting slightly orange armor as result....well...no words.

First time I had seen it, but then again I usually don't go scavenging for afks and happened upon that guy after we had chased the rest of his lance off.

Yeah, it's an old, old problem that keeps cropping up from time to time. I don't know if it's still possible, but back in the day you could abuse it in-game to desync your hitboxes from your model intentionally and then be invincible for the rest of the match.

I think they've fixed that part at least, but on the other hand I haven't tried it.

I wonder if that works with rejoining games. The server having to resync all of your hitboxes can't be good for the ongoing match either.

streaks are setup to never hit the center. There is no way to group them smaller. Artemis on streaks is said to decrease lock time at no cost of weight.

Streaks 4 are cooler and run faster by design. But you also get 2 less missiles.

That Artemis benefit (+1 slot/1ton per launcher) would have to be loaded via another Missile system on-board as Streaks don't get Artemis.

So if you want a shorter missile lock-on time, perhaps a Module based method would be best. Unless of course you do carry multiple missile system types on a chassis.

Lots of folks were running lights to get more games/wins in by grinding them till they died (hopefully well in reasonable combat) and then disconnecting and hopping in another.

Still, I saw Heavies crawl over 50% several times, but for a brief moment I saw Assaults be the lowest % (I was awed, but it was 18% for Assaults, 19% for lights and mediums, so hardly a big difference).

Still, often see Lights and mediums under 10%. So not everyone's piloting them.

Lights should be at 25% ideally. I still see them under 20% most if not all the time.

Some would argue Mediums suffer the most from such a challenge. Having the hitboxes/scale similar to a Heavy, but not the health/durability of one is a major issue.

I've seen Mediums dip a little more consistently than Lights. Those numbers don't really lie.

Most classes fluctuating between 18-33% is fine. The fact that it's rare to see lights and mediums over 18% means there's some issues.

The main issue is due to pug lottery you cannot count on ECM being available and that's a death sentence for any mech, especially light pilots trying to grind up variants which don't have it. Couple that with the mobility nerfs and piloting a light just doesn't have that fun factor it use to.

There are a bunch of "DEDICATED ASSAULT PILOTS" and "DEDICATED HEAVY PILOTS" - I generally disregard them as incapable of running different weight classes, but I'd bet they contribute heavily to the skewed queues.

You mean aside from Shadowhawks and Griffins, which can tank damage better than my Orions? It's like the secret glitch that no one talks about-- a jump-jetting, torso-twisting SH or Griffin can take unbelievable amounts of damage. I've literally had my arms and a leg shot off, along with all my torso armor gone (CT and STs, front and back), and survived 10+ seconds while 6 enemies are hosing me down at point-blank range with lasers, gauss, AC, and SRMs. And I run XL engines. Funny, freakish, and totally broken.

Ppc nerf and hitreg is so bad now all the lights are back. Im seeing commandos running around now lol

you saw more lights because o fthe challenge. You'll see a few more lights and mediums because of nova and kit trial mechs. I regularly see the light and medium %'s well under 20 if not 10 at times

wow
what a silly and ridiculous statement. So now if you just happen to LIKE runnign assaults and/or heavies it's because you're not "skilled" enough to pilot mediums and lights?
smh

no no not a preference - I keep encountering people that absolutely refuse to drive anything but. There's a difference. I *prefer* lights, but I drive everything. I've encountered dudes in drops that absolutely refused to step out of an assault to let someone else run fat for a while. The whole time talking about how great they are (while not delivering) and speaking about "Well *I* am a *dedicated* assault pilot!" - they're usually terrible, and would benefit greatly from some time in a different mech. I understand people like what they like, but it's the flat refusal paired with the total inability to perform that bothers me.

Why should they? If someone wants to drive a specific mech and/or weight class, that's perfectly acceptable. They aren't playing the game for your enjoyment, they're playing it for theirs.
