Recently I noticed a thread that I had to agree with. New pilots are at a disadvantage when trying to learn how to handle a new Mech.
Training ground map option.
Special Map Tourmaline. A satellite has lost the location of bases on the map. Like in conquest you have 5 bases, each in the red. You have to capture each base, turning it to blue.
Special Map Caustic Valley. Mission 5 Mechs were badly damaged and are beyond repair. Find and destroy these Mechs and return to starting point.
Special Map Frozen City. 10 Bullseye Targets have been set up around the frozen ruins. You are to find and destroy all 10 Targets.

Would love something like this. Unfortunately, anything besides static targets/mechs requires some sort of AI programming. :S

Stuff like this is on some backburner. Don't expect it to happen until next year because of CW.

Good of you to think of the poor new players - this game has a brutal learning curve.
Sadly, PGI doesn't seem interested in helping them out.

Or ever, for that matter.
With the current state of the solo matchmaker (ie: the better you are, the more you have to carry), they've decided that actual training for new players isn't very important....at least, as long as they drop a few bucks before they ragequit.
