Currently the main difference between Assault Mech's and Heavy Mech's in casual gameplay is the amount of weapons you can put on them. I propose that Assault Mech's get a role warfare change:

- Reduce the C-Bills earned for dealing damage by half.

- Earn C-Bills for damage taken.

This will promote the assaults to be the heavy breakthrough units they're supposed to be, and possibly help with issue of players hiding through most of the match, afraid to take any damage at all. Any takers on this idea?

Yeah I actually thought they were going to do that last year when they mentioned making "role" based modules that gave bonus xp for doing specific things. I think all we got was UAV detection and spotting assist xp.

I'm all up for the damage taken idea.

LRM'ing is fine, but when an assault is doing it...well, the front line will fold fairly quickly, and no incentive to change that.

Similar to the ECM light sniper, yeah you can poke and prod, but you could do that with your team and potentially reduce damage with ECM.

As for Mediums/Heavies, i they need the introduction of Light/Heavy Ferro-Fibrous Armor, to increase the total amount of armor. Because lets face it, they are what the front line will be mostly composed of, since waiting for the assaults to get into place, takes way too long and the gives the enemy opportunity to setup a vantage point.

Also, UAV spotting/killing should yield kill assist and a message letting your team know you are killing UAV's and who is helping putting up UAV's, as well as TAG should give kill assist, you are assisting.

Spotting assist is a move in the right direction, they just need to make it more profitable for light Mech's.

Your idea is a step in the right direction, I'm just not sure about directly rewarding damage taken. PGI would need to be careful about implementing any rewards that encourage players to do detrimental things. Rewarding players for taking damage would encourage them to go out of their way to get hit.

Really, the goal is to encourage assaults to take damage in place of their teammates, so perhaps assaults could be rewarded based how much of their teammates' armor is remaining. The better an assault does at drawing fire from its teammates, the better its reward.

I like this, but it would also run the gamete of losing C-Bills because of Leroy Jenkins behavior.

Immediate problem. Assault pilots charging into the enemy to get max xp by taking max damage.

You're referring to when non-assault teammates charge in? Players are going to Leroy Jenkins either way, but if they constantly get yelled at by their assaults, a few of them might change their ways. If you've got a player who charges in, the match will probably not go as well and you're probably going to lose CBills anyway.

I think a lot of the assault's need more armor though...too easy to kill at the moment.

Not necessarily, so long as they don't run in by themselves. A good way of prolonging your lifespan in an assault Mech is by twisting your torso to spread the damage evenly.
