MechWarriors,

Switching data centers isn't a lot of fun. Super quick style update.

Here is where we are:

- We have been delaying bringing down production until we have PTS live.
- Two issues have arisen with the public test build, one is the clan weapon changes are not as we intended and two is a bug affecting 32 bit machines.
- I have decided that I do not want to put up the PT build in this current state.
- We are going to take approximately 1 hour to get PTS live however it will just be exactly as you are playing on live now, which means no Desynch fix and no Clan weapon changes.
- Our team will be bringing down production right away to get started on our data center transfer work, we do not want to delay this work any longer.
- you will have approximately a 1 hour timeframe where you can play nothing.
- When PTS is ready in approximately 1 hour we will let you know.
- We will continue to debug the original PTS build.
- If at all possible we will put up a new PTS build later today so that we can get the valuable testing data of the Desync bug and the Clan weapon changes.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Were all running around and working as hard as we can to clear everything up. More when we have it.

Russ

My ping has increased significantly since the migration. I live in Australia and typically get 270ms. Last night when the servers came back up I had 400ms ping, and today I have 320ms. I hope you haven't moved the data center to Greenland!

No, the ping will decrease significantly for players which are "far away" from north america with the nex data center.

You just have to trust them and wait for the new servers.
What a big improvment !

Hah yeah my ping nearly doubled, on the other side though my Hit Reg is the best its been in an age..whether that's because I changed ISP or the migration I dunno..

Ping for me has gone up 90ms on average for consistent 240ish to 330, i'm getting far more rubber banding, things are harder to hit, not getting as much damage reg as i used to. New servers are, so far, terrible for me, and yes I'm in Australia.

Im also getting high pings, I have high-speed cable 15mb up n down my avg ping before change was 20-50ms now its 160-210ms. One would think it would be much lower as i live 5min south of Montreal an like a 30min or so drive from the PGI office that's here...

Edit:
FYI im talking bout the live server, couldn't find were to post bout the live server other then on Reddit or whatever

your hosting the server in Germany? if so then that explains Australian Pings.

Just did a random trace rt to a random montreal game server, and got about the same ping. So this move has shafted australians who play the game even more than it was. We have gone from having a mostly tolerable game 250ish ping to something that's teeth baringly and frustratingly sorta playable 330ish ping. watch your Australian base just drop.

It's really cool they put up the test servers so people could still get their mechwarrior fix looked after.

Especially cool for people who don't have their Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries CD-Roms lying around ;)

The game server was at 70.42.29.65, RELAY-1.MWTACTICS.COM.

So the question is what is the IP of the new game server, 192.99.109.129, 70.42.29.65, or something totally different?

EDIT: WHOIS could not resolve 192.99.109.129 to a name, which explains why my DNS was having issues with some resolutions.
