What Is The Max Heat Limited Dps On The Nova?

I know I want a hex brace of mlas, but thanks to ghost heat I really don't know what place slas has. Six is a very low ghost heat limit for such a small weapon.

Do I go pure mlas boat? Mixed? Smurfy's weapon lab doesn't account for ghost heat in its DPS calculations.

Do I go Tcomp, slas, mg or heatsinks?

Personally, I use 12 ERSlas and 4 MG with, I think, six tons of ammo. Six lasers slaved to each arm. The mech shreds when used right. The damage output is pretty large given the low recharge time and six lasers, even smalls, is no amount to scoff at. The MGs are great at doing their thing, as you can peel armor off pretty quickly with the lasers.

Go with 6ERMLs and 6ERSLs, 21DHS. It's rock-solid. Great mid-range firepower. Brutal close quarters firepower, and the SL's give it the sustainability you'll need as hot as this thing gets.

first night, almost finished off the researched whatever they're called just running stock
left alpha away, right chain fire and MG's to suit

edit: sorry forgot, ditched the AMS and added armor and a heat sink
runs great, not too hot plenty kick to take out whatever.
Talking about the S, haven't gotten to the other two, ran the trial one....that will need some help

when you have it mastered you can easily ditch 2 DHS for a TC Mk I and another ton of MG Ammo.

12MLas work fine, just fire in volleys of 6 each and you do not have any ghostheat. after this retreat for cool down r continue firing single/double asers until heatcap is reached.

@Josef 6 tons of MG ammo? 12.000 MG ammo? no one ever needs this.

Only msall alers is a very funny build, but extremely situational since you are very often waiting for a suitable moment to be of use. I still enjoy my nova most with 4 MG's 12 CERML, and 1 ton ammo + tc1.

atm, I have two builds:

12CERML tc1

and

12CERML tc 1 4xMG (1t ammo)

Other builds are more for the fun like

12ERSML tc 6 2xMG 1 t ammo. Can work decent, but situational because it needs to be close. Alpine and caustic are very often maps where you may be useless if the others don't go to the tighter areas.

8SPL 4MG tc1 rest heatsinks. Loads of fun because you can nearly endless spray with 2 lasers. and permanently firing a single laser is still below the heat dissipation. But not very efficient.

Why don't you make it in smurfy yourself? It's very simple.

Sure, it doesn't account for ghost heat, but mediumlasers are at 6, large pulse at 2 (there is a page for it), so it's very simple.

You wouldn't want to fire at ghost heat anyway, so you would want to do 6 at a time and 2 at a time respectively, and there's not that many loadouts you can do with nova,especially considering the PPCs are nerfed to the extent I wouldn't bother using them.

I tried the trial Nova and got 4 kills and @700 damage.

Its a very wide mech.

I set one arm to chain fire and the other as the KO punch.

This will be my next mech.

This has been a busy weekend. Bought a Victor-my only assault, and a locust for the lols.

I use mainly two different setups for my Nova.
1. 12x ERML which is almost the stock Prime setup except or a slightly altered armor placement
2. 6x ERML + 4x MG

The 2nd variant is a solid allrounder that can quickly dispatch any mech with low armor left.

The prime is hard to use well in longer fights because of the abysmal heat efficiency but can be brutally effective as an assasin (calling mine the Novassasin :ph34r:). Fire the lasers in groups of 6 with just over 0.5 sec inbetween and you can get out all 84 damage in 1.8-2.0 seconds without triggering ghost heat. This much damage to the rear torso will instantly destroy any other mech safe for some Atlas/Direwolf builds with unusually high back armor (62 internal CT structure on 100 tonners + 22+ back armor, most builds have less though). If you cannot sneak up on them, try to stick with the closest assault and focus whatever they are firing at. Learn to aim with lasers, pratice your heat management and positioning and it can be extremely rewarding, fire the 2 weapon groups too fast or get caught alone in a brawl and die from overheating.
Personally i love this mech and the fact that it forces me to practice some more and rethink my playstyle but when i just want to casually play a few rounds, i rather take out the 6 ERML + 4 MG one.

With the trial nova (x12 er medium lasers) I broke it up into three groups. 4 left arm(left mouse button), 4 right arm(right mouse button), 2 left/2right arm(wheel). Deals enough damage without overheating, you can choose which arm you want to hit your opponent with depending on which arm is blocked by a building or a team mate so you're not taking out your team or wasting damage opportunity on a building blocking an arm. Chain firing can be toggled for any of the three groups based on preference but so far I haven't had to.

And if I lose an arm I just continue using the available groups without switching anything up.

And then, well anything between 12CERML and 12 CERSL works no matter how you mix them. it just alters the aount of heat you generate and can dissipate. and also alters you efficiency in the medium and shortrange.

And ghost heat? well make an excel fo yourself. put in the formula from the thread where they explained GH.
I am just still waiting for the table to be updated what the penalty for 13 weapons is, because the table only goes to 12.
It's not rocketscience, just a bit math. not even complicated ones.

Heeeeeeeee! I was exploiting with the Nova-S

they were behind some hard cover- got brave stepped out, kept us pinned down, I launched a UAV, I could see the red triangles, but not them (I was behind cover)
I simply stuck that ridiculously wide arm out past the building edge-face hugging the wall.
Put the monitor cross hair under the red triangle and fired. Cross hairs turned red almost every time.
Did quite well till they realized what was going on, got my arm shot off- still quite fun
Dang, this thing is wider than the Awesome
