alright guys and gals I've read enough posts and angry msgs from our oceanic warriors in which since I am a computer network technician by trade, I will pass a possible solution for better connection to the the MWO servers.

DNS server - Everyone uses it to connect to the internet, its basicly called domain name server which resolves website names and so fore...
how is it important to you? extremely important because depending on certain servers they might do weird bounces in between the web and try to use what server is best for that server your current dns is set to... generally your isp but it may not have the most efficient way of routeing that connection.

if you have a couple of minutes and know how to change your dns in either windows operation system or your router which ever your connection maybe check this free program out

it will basicly test a number of dns servers you have access to and currently using and do a test on how fast you are connected to vs other dns server which you may have a better return ping rate for.

i'm envious of that ping lol i did get 130's to 125 from the recent move so lol but i was hearing alot of aussy and other players have with it

I'm sorry, but routing and DNS are related how exactly?

To answer my own question...
Ok... they are both networking services. But that's where the similarities end. DNS has absolutly no influence on routing or ping. All it does is resolve names in IP adresses and vice versa. Routing doesn't need or use names. So all a faster DNS server does, is resolving names faster. Names are for the human users only, because names are easier to remember then a bunch of numerical strings.

Go take the network+ and come back, read some of those threads with traceroute results, and see if you still want to post this.

Really? I am a Network Administrator and I have 13 Years under my belt. Regardless of what you use for your DNS, it is still a matter of hops between your local host, and the mwo Servers... i.e. your location from the mwo server you are connecting to.Once you use the DNS server to resolve the url to an IP address you no longer use the DNS server at all.

DNS will not lower your ping times, only routing can do this.

So for the people who are having traffic problems due to routing, try using a VPN or Proxy and see if you can send data quicker via that route Specifically the Aus guys who are being routed via Europe.. try a VPN in the USA and see if it goes via a different route to that VPN and then onto MWO

There are things changing your DNS does fix, but not the routing used by your ISP

If you go to a http://www.totallyfa...deupwebsite.com and you see a page with ads or any message other than a plain 404, your DNS is feeding you junk/ads when it deosn't resolve and that certainly can cause issues with MWO and can be fixed by changing the DNS.

of course there is vpn and tunneling protocols which i listed earlier in another post but i came across a couple of articles which seem almost unbelievable but changing their dns fixed a number of issues for some other folks online with their ping and gaming experience.

it seems fairly harmless and at the same time optimizes their dns to improve their internet service quality

I believe in looking for free solutions for the members is always a positive rather then getting a vpn service to potentially route mwo servers to client better for an additional sum which could of went towards the game.

unless some of our fine other networking specialists can give a vpn for our aussy friends i'm sure they would love a hand or a service

From what I heard wtfast doesn't work with MWO.

hmm too bad but worth trying, another one that came up on a search is Cloudnymous which only allows 1 hour free a day but generally very busy

trying latency fix atm and in theory it should help prevent desyncing, will have to keep trying mwo till i get desynced
