Congrats on leaving your fantasy land where LRMs don't exist and actually finding out they sting today.
Because taking a lot of damage in a few matches out of thousands means LRM's are OP....
It still took concentrated fire from three enemy mechs, including a Gauss Direwolf, to finish me off in my stock NVA-S. I.e. my fault i died because i was in a bad position.

Ah, Timberwolves. The only mech that goes from OP to OP, and anywhere in between, because screw the matchmaker.

The bad position excuse never works because I can zip in, narc, and zip out before half their team has left the spawn. Blame PGI's spawn points if you wish, or blame the lack of ecm on your team, but if I drop, count on me rooting out the best players I know by name and promptly alerting my team to the narc lock so they can obliterate that person into a towering rage.

NARC doesn't magically make missiles go through cover. I was in a bad position because i was where i could be hit by LRM's.

Genuine, not trolling.
Without artemis, locks are taking a lot longer to get. So why is it pointless?
Atremis greatly speeds up your locking. If you have line of site on the target mech when your missiles hit you get a grouping bonus.
If you want to run a LRM boat, you have to look at the tubes you have. For a Stalker, if you want the biggest single fire volley that would require the 3H. The 3H allows 50 missiles to hit in one volley and you can care 1980 missiles with the chassis. You become a walking platform of death for your team.

This. A dozen times this. People need to admit that they make mistakes before they can improve. If they prefer to blame other things for their own fault, they can never improve.

For the uninitiated, 8 tons of LRM ammo is a potential 1584 damage. 500 damage is 30%. Any serious LRM Specialist has to hit that just to be considered average.

That's 4 tons of ammo on most real LRM mechs.
For certain a decent team is required for LRM mechs to work... but by the same token, if the enemy team isnt incompetent there is a wide gap between skilled LRM use and spuds just lobbing missiles randomly at any target that they lock.
You'll see a good LRM mechs tagging their own targets, swithing fire modes depending on situation, and lobbing shots that hit without lock, on mechs playing peakaboo.

Artemis is very useful, even in indirect. The reduction in lock times allow you to get off ordnance that much faster, and coupled with Advance Target Decay, can mean the difference between hitting a peekaboo and just suppressing him.
I go through ammo waaaay faster with Artemis than without, and hit better, even in indirect. When the inevitable assault happens, the direct LOS also helps me lob rounds faster and harder at the enemy. Overall, it's a worthwhile investment if you already have a decent warload + launch tube rate.
