In order to avoid getting stuck on a map after jumping or falling in difficult terrain, a change to the jump jet system could resolve the issue (for mechs with jets, without jets, just don't go there ;) ).

If jump jet capacity recharges as long as they are not active, regardless if the mech is in the air or on the ground, a player may get a chance to jump out of a hazardous position where the mech is trapped. The engines will replenish the jets and the mech can probably jump out.

This would also help reduce the leg damage. If a mech jumped high to its maximum jump jet capacity, some capacity will be regained during the fall to soften the landing.

It would be easier to implement a 5s delay before JJs are replenished after use, in the air or otherwise, so you do not get stuck and you still take fall damage when you are a bad poptart.

A better way to deal with poptarting would be to implement a cone of fire/recoil/knockdown/convergence delay when jumpjetting or simply prevent [certain?] weapons from being used while jumpjetting or a heat system revamp with penalties and shorter capacity so the heat generated by jumpjetting can limit your DPS. Or make jump jets propel you forward or sideways or backward very quickly and not just "up" so it's more maneuverable, that would also get rid of poptarting.

So no, this idea is actually fine. Jump jets are just broken and need a complete revamp, along with CoF, the heat system, and information warfare.

It is a good thing we get stuck on maps.

Gives the Devs a chance to correct the maps.

I bet you if this change did solve the getting stuck issue, 90% of the people would never report that issue.
