You think that MWO was built from scratch by PGI?

Yes....I know, the first module of CW is now here, but I'm damned impatient after waiting all this time only to have "that" as the big reveal first module. Unless they start really producing content, I'm afraid it can't ameliorate 2 years of frustration quickly.

You know what really drives me nuts about the first module of CW? Its that we have no clue what the second module will be. We still have no solid details about the design they've apparently "finalized" 3 years into the game. I can pick up a gaming magazine and read all about my favorite console games and the designers tell you all about how they're planning to do X or Y... and that's pretty much what you get. In MWO, it's all top-secret squirrel. They have a plan. Just be patient. Maybe they're all cylons.

I used to pile money onto every hero mech/package. At most now I would only wait for the appropriate sale. That said have not bought a hero mech since.. ..probably last year.

The latency issues we are now getting are irking a lot of our division members that were willing to hold out for CW. Loyalty is certainly wearing thin once again..

To give them some credit, at the beginning, they did exactly this. Do you remember the great Design Pillars? Role Warfare, First Person only experience, etc... And we all know how that turned out.

I do agree. Objective heavy game modes would be cool.
A lot of substance could be added with CW, especially if they involve the solo players as well. Like giving map benefits to factions based on solo q results and stuff like that.

Simple change to conquest, where you can only win by conquest and not killing would be a start.
I hope CW might include a few more objective based matches.

my only response to this:

After doing a slight bit of research, namely googling War Thunder development, i found out that war thunder started development in 2009, and the company used large amounts of coding and programming form previous games. This being said, it has had roughly 3 years of additional development MWO has not had, plus the game was not built from scratch as MWO is.

So while these "OTHER" games are more polished and have more content, they benefit from a continuation from previous games that were developed. Give MWO another 3 -4 years, and i promise you it will be at roughly the same spot, multiple game modes, a dynamic universe, all your hopes and dreams.

Please stop whining about content, it will come just be patient. Seriously this community's GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!!!1!!!!1!!!11! mentality is mind boggling.

Rome, New Avalon, Tharkad, and Strana Mechty werent built in a day, or month, or year...

There was a previous successful and completely voluntary Mechwarrior mod built on CryEngine.

Some of the issues with that mod required some interaction from CryTek on the downlow because CryTek doesn't officially have rights to release content on the IP.

The lead developers of that mod went to work for CryTek.

Said developers then start contributing to MWO for required engine modifications. You know, the ones previously hashed out on said mod.

The lead art contributor of that mod started banging out all of the concept art for MWO.

PGI gives that mod a cease and desist.

Elements from that mod start sneaking into MWO.

MWO runs into a number of the same issues that the mod did with regards to development and deployment, some of which involved direct involvement from CryTek, i.e. the same people that worked on the mod.

~~~
I think it's safe to say that PGI had some handholding and a bit of a blueprint to work from. Not to mention they killed a great mod in the name of profit -- the same profit that doesn't support the idea of committing resources to substance.
The game is really shallow right now. Go in, kill or die, rinse, repeat.
This is due to us playing a Demo not a game.
Yep totally agree, this is a next gen game. But I also agree they got to put the warrior in mechwarrior still, because right now all we have is the mech part.
I'd go as far as saying they need to put the BETA tag back.
And the best part of this whole community, we post things, and never have I seen a concerned response from PGI.
The second installment of faction wars will definately have joining factions in game, not on web page, or maybe both. Its easy to assume that faction ranks will also be in game.
Its also easy to assume that there will be something added to the star map. What? I have no idea. :)
They already have the ability to have faction vrs faction battles in the game as we speak.
What else can be in the next installment? I am curious also.
