Help.

Own all the other BLRs. Thought I'd pick this one up on account of the ooooh shiny paintjob plus the cbills of my Phoenix.

....and *sad face*. This thing sucks balls!

I've tried missile boats. I've tried SRM brawlers. I've tried wubwub. I've tried ER snipers. I've tried blends, mixes, concoctions, hamsters and rubberbands. I think I've tried every suggestion on smurfy for this there has been.

They all suck. I just cannot find something that does this paint job justice.

I may just throw F**K-alls to the wind and put in a 400xl and run a pair of LWubs in the arms and a pair of ERs in the shoulders and plug the other hardpoint holes with the dried salt of my tears.

I have other BLRs and they give their best with BIG engines (take a Stalker for slow stuff). From my experience, an 80 kph XL Battlemaster outlives a slow STD Battlemaster.

I would try this (only theory atm):

Speed tweak ASAP btw ...... and play it as a Hunchback not Atlas.

What Zur said.
The only Battlemaster I played as an ASSAULT mech was the D untill the ACs got nerfed.
Now its .... just a big target or you play it as overweight heavy firesupport.
The BLR 1S is a decent missle plattform and the 3M makes a decent oneside PPC wonder for sniping around corners. BLR -3M

For the Hellslinger....as a competetive mech....just beat it. But for puging and earning cash...
Hellslinger
Use it as direct sight LRM medrange fighter. U need target retention and maybe a hillclimbing module.
Try to get a raven or Kitfox to escort you (ECM cover and rearguard/ missle guard).
Just ask one.
Most of the little ones are pretty helpful if you take them serious.
Glimps over a hill, use your TAG and give them LRMs at around 500 to 750m.
Since IS LRMs are concentrated Swarms when guided by TAG or Narc you will do serious dmg.

Or maybe try this variant with sensormodul and target retention. Same as above but without tag.
Idea is to max out your sensor range and targeting speed.
Remember Artemis is only usefull on direct sightline. YOU NEED TO SEE THE TARGET WHEN IT GETS HIT for Artemis to have any effects.
And again seek a kitty or a ecm raven for companion.

HELLSLINGER

The only redeeming quality this battlemaster has are the high mounted energy hardpoints. Use them. Can strip arm armor and/or heatsinks to up the engine as well.

i'de rather had a non-canon battlemaster.one that mounted a ballistic slot in a side torso for example

HELLSLINGER

This is my build, and i'm still having problems with it.

Single ERPPC in RT, 5 MLAS (torso and arms on separate triggers), SRM14 (200), AMS (1500), 21 DHS, 375XL. Pulls top slots in many fights (when I don't take my eye off the ball). Heat is very manageable and due the insulation quirk, very consistent. There is something to be said for the ability at range to fire a single high-mounted fast-cycling PPC at will without heat concern, and to be able to depend on it across all maps. I do much better with it than trying to manage the ridiculous heat from 2 of them. And up close, the rest of the load is, of course, a set of superior brawling tools which I prefer to use with good trigger discipline and the SRMs set to chain-fire (I'm still convinced hit detection works better this way).

I will use that if i buy it. I really like the streaks on assault mech, when you brawl, just lock and fire, fire and fire. It's give the possibilité to focus your mind on your medium and Large lasers to finish the mech. The BAP gives you the rapid lock on Streaks, and with Artemis it's very very quick. It allows you to have information about target faster too, so you know where to focus with the lasers.

And i have keep the FF on the mech, it's not a mistake, with that loadout Endo Steel give me too much tonnage, and i don't want to buy a bigger engine to fit with that configuration. And you made some economies, the mech has the FF by default =)

I've mastered out the Hellslinger but like the other Battlemasters I did struggle with it until it was doubled up bonus wise. At that point it became far more effective.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...dd50a30e5934743

Its a simple improvement over the base version - paired erll for range, medium lasers for close in punch and streaks/bap for anti-light work/close in, 340 standard for survivability. I've toyed with swapping the streaks/bap out for standard SRM's a few times as most lights are in the 35 ton bracket now so streak 2's don't seem that effective except to cause lights to shy away. I find myself just killing them with the quad medium lasers!

Sadly battlemasters are the mech where I most feel like you can't judge them until you double them.

so i run this, chill till the fight starts, send the srm6+6ml into the ct and watch it turn funny colors.

alot of people don't like art on srms, if you are one of those people swap the art and the 2 arm-laz for a ppc or a LL on the right arm( i think its the right, one of them is mounted higher then the other?)

the BAP is for fun.. also its good the info gathering and the built in counter ECM helps team and helps you rip off important parts. alot of the time i end up sending the srms and ML into a leg, or side torso to cripple something.

i run 5 groups 1=arms, 2= right side ML(inc arms), 3= left side ML( "") 4 is 3 srm-6 and 5th is the srms on chain fire.

its a funny mech and alot of the builds above mine would work just fine but i love getting up close and personal. and i think this is one of the best

note: your effective range is 270... keep that in mind on some of the bigger maps. convince your group to flank and you'll be ok. if you find yourself in a poke fight in this build your doing it wrong

cheers.

Waiting for the Hellslinger to go on sale, no way I'm paying full price for an assault class hero. When I do get it I intend to run it as: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...67eade837bcb900

Havent bought, might not ever, but mechlab is fun.
I havent seen the model, if it is like the pheonix variant, where you can mount two of the energy like on top of the things head almost, then do this:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...96a694adfb7eec4

If it is not like that, then swap the PPC for ERLL and use the tons to upgrade the SRM to 4's. Some long range, real solid stacking firepower for brawl work, 80KPH assault with good agility.
