Thanks Jay Z, I had the hardest time trying to watch in on Twitch...

That spectator view really shows the opposition team movements, spread and positioning. It's a bit unfair that other units don't have access to this feature.

For the record, I have not used it for any sort of practice, unit strategy or anything. It is just a tool for streaming purposes only. In fact, I only used in it in a couple of random que matches before streaming the round 1 matches to get used to the camera. I can assure you that the spectator cam was never used in a single practice session. Furthermore, it is launched through my MWO client so I cannot cheat with it for any benefit to 228th as I am in the drops myself. Finally, the stream is on a 10 minute delay (longer than most matches) so it can't affect the outcome of matches.

P.S. Netherdawn also has access now so he might dual cast the matches with me or stream from a different perspective and also use the cam for our 228th matches (again, with a delay, there is no way this can be used in our favour or anyone's favour to be honest).

I think he simply meant that it's great for post match analysis, Jay. I know being able to watch replays was really good for RTS games like Company of Heroes.

Would be nice if MWO could have some kind of BattleCam type feature actually. Not just for match analysis but for screenshots and videos too.

it would be rad as part of the command module. a top down battlefield view ala mech commander

maybe view a birds eye perspective from the UAV

228 does not need to cheat to get anywhere, they are some of the most competitive players I've faced and every match with them is an absolute blast.

That would be cool.

It is actually live only. I.e. I have to spectate that match as it is happening. If I miss anything, then I can't go back and rewatch it. There are no match recordings so I cast in 1 take, no editing. Anyway, by posting up the videos, all units have equal opportunity to review each round of matches. Get keen for round 3!

Also, I have official unit logos for F8L, TPL, ARMD. I have unofficial logos for DSA, 256th, OMC (I screenshot your site/TS). PM me the logo that you would like shown on stream in-between drops or I can type the name.

Jay Z noted.
Good work on the streaming. It makes a big difference being able to watch from a bird's eye view than from just a single cockpit view. The logo you used for our unit is fine.

Exactly, thanks to the replays I know who is piloting what, who will be in the point position, if there is a certain location that the enemy likes to hold, defend or attack at. Did it work? What was the result?

Your a fool if you don't, it's a very useful information tool.

Agreed, they are very good, challenging players. I remember this one game where BULB, Jay Z, were on the same team as myself and we were facing the Lords.

After I put down, Eglar, Glock and Eclisse it was up to Jay Z and Bulb to finish the last of them. They did. It was such a good close fought team game I asked if that recording was available for post match review.

That was my comment. How did you get access to this feature from PGI?

Just a suggestion,

can the schedule here be changed such that it says Team 1(Top) or Team 2(Bottom) instead of blue/red team? Or at least indicate whether the Blue team in there is the top or bottom company in the Lobby?

I was making the lobby and I was ALWAYS the blue team no matter where I moved myself.

Thanks

While true, since other units don't have access to, I do not use at all outside streaming for fairness.

I have been streaming for quite a while on a few channels (NGNG, mwopro, jay_z_) and asked for permission to have access to the spectator cam specifically for the HPL tournament to promote the Oceanic competitive scene and the units in this timezone.

Also, I remember that match on Terra Therma, it was good one. http://i.imgur.com/rTh9b7c.jpg

The team that creates the lobby is red team. The team that joins (gets invited to) is blue team. Hope that helps.

It would be unethical for 228th (or anyone else) to use the spectator mode for anything that would give them an unfair advantage over any other team.

Are you sure? When I watched your recording of our games last week and compared this to the setup of the lobby. Blue seemed to be the team who was at the top and red was the bottom. Matching the colours within the lobby itself.

The colour in the lobby does not necessarily reflect the spawn. When I mean Red team, I am referring to the spawn points as per smurfy maps. These will be team 1 in lobby. The team that is invited will be team 2, blue team according to smurfy maps. The colour in lobby is simply blue for your team, red for enemy team. Hence, in lobby colour means nothing.

TLDR, read the schedule with red = team 1, blue = team 2.

Point taken with regards to the Smurfy maps. Out of curiosity who did you use as reference to spectate the DSA/VJB vs NMNM/DEFY matches last week? Maybe that had a bearing as the colour assignments were spot on with those three matches. NMNM/DEFY were blue in the first match, and DSA/VJB were blue accordingly for the next two matches.

I have updated the schedule already with the reverse of your suggestion to keep in line with the lobbys colours as it will avoid confusion. So Blue = Top = Team 1 and Red = Bottom = Team 2. Whichever team is Blue/Top/Team 1 should start the lobby and invite the other teams group leader.

So, those of us who have watched (Jay Z's) Overhead view of the matches are unethical?

No. The videos are posted for all to see and use as they please. Hopefully they also attract more attention to playing in these time zones. Using the mode for practice or take an advantage during your own match would be unethical.

Any chance of getting the table updated in the OP to reflect round 2 matches?
