1) Can't keep up with or run away from IS Medium mechs
2) Can't shoot anything or I'll overheat
3) I have more armor but my hitboxes are HUGE compared to IS Mediums
4) No MASC
5) Can't even equip ECM to help compensate for all the other issues
6) Can't even fit 6 more MGs to compensate for lack of being able to use lasers anymore
WTG PGI, another worthless chassis added to the long list. Looks like we should all just be piloting Jenners, Cicadas, Jaegers and Stalkers! Love that variety and viability.

It was pretty mediocre even with the medium lasers, in the grand scheme compared to other mechs man.
The Timberwolf and Direwolf are far superior, and the storm crow is superior is aswell IMO.

It has always been that way in battletech and it has been that way in many installments of mechwarrior.
The magnitude of how much better is certainly a good point for discussion and a point of balance that needs to be looked at but lasers have always been a clan thing and this nerf was too much and poorly implemented.
...and just in case you're wondering, I don't even own a clan mech, but i have played all the trial clan mech before and after patch.
The Nova is not a Nova anymore. I don't even know what it is. I agree that a bit of balance was needed to but it seems a bit much...

I own a timber wolf, and have never and will never boat c-mlas, so this doesn't affect me, but I sit here still flabbergasted. I have always preferred IS mechs over clan mechs, love my battlemaster... But this is just icing on the cake. I always thought clan mechs (in lore at least) preferred lasers and LuRMs, but I guess LuRMs uacs and gauss is the true way of the warrior...

as long as you CANNOT outrun ANY clanmech you at LEAST need superior weapons as IS.
exploit your range and pace or play IS, simple as that.
clanmechs ARE horribly OP oven now after the nerf, thnx to clan xl engines.
darn nova eats twice the beating of even a IS heavy, and you have the friggin NERVE to demand equal weapon efficiency?
what about a new button that simply grants you a win and 500k free cbills when you press it?

Lolwut? seriously, i use to eat clan mechs in my ISmechs. Now as before the patch. My ac20 BJ rocks, all my IS assaults sherd clan mechs both in brawl or sniping, my IS heavies can go toe to toe with clan mechs just like they can against IS mechs.
Remeber that clan mech can't change engines, type of structure and armor, and have often locked heatsinks and jumpjets. Even with switchable pods, mechs like the nova are incredibly limited buildwise. the biggest ballistic you can put on it is the ac10, having just 3 tons ammo and 3 backup medium lasers. Otherwise, you can put 2 ac2s on it, but those are almost useless.
Oh, and the nova has exactly the same ammount of maximum armor, and internal structure healt, of a IS 50tons medium.
Seriously, have you ever even tried the trial clan mechs? go take a ride with the nova, and let me know how OP it is. Yes, it has a 82 potential alpha, but it can't alpha without overheating. And even chainfiring the lasers the heat goes up really, really fast.
Please, if you're bad, dont go around saying stupid things just because some nova pilot better than you killed you in your heavy.

In all honesty, sometimes I'm not sure, wether you guys see the relative change compared to the absolute numbers while you're fixing stuff :/
It means ER Small Laser has 50% more range than IS Small Laser. It deals 33% more damage per beam. It has 23% more DPS.
ER Small Laser has the same DPS as IS Medium Laser (1.23 vs 1.25) and lower HPS (0.92 vs 1).
That means within 150 meters ER SL > IS ML, despite being twice as light. And Nova can have 12 ERSL for 6 tonnes while Hunchback has 9 ML for 9 tonnes.
Nova will beat HBK-4P any day of the week.

What a steaming pos it is now.
The thing is a glass cannon, has same armor as a trebuchet ffs, and huge bodyparts easily chopped off.
The state it is in now, is laughable, and teamates in pubs that deploy them are now a liability.
