Here's what I was thinking:
THE REASON FOR MWOS' PALTRY DEVELOPMENT

How many delays on MWO have there been? Doesn't matter, let's make a new game.

I would like to congratulate my fellow Founders, and especially those who paid $500 for gold Clan mechs, for this opportunity to fund an exciting new game.

Bryan's Twitter:

@bryanekman@sandpit77sooooo CW delayed 2 years but have time and resources to develop another game?
@sandpit77 fair question. Twitter short answer ;) Separate team, and resources.

Of course it's separate. How foolish of us to think otherwise.
I'm not mad, Bryan... I'm just disappointed.

I'm so done with this company
They can barely get MWO off the ground now they want to take the money they squeezed out of BT fans to fund their next cash cow....
I'm sorry
but this feels like a total betrayal, forgive for not sounding at all enthused with this news, but you can say whatever you want, we all know this new project will do no favors for MWO.
The fact this is battletech is the only way I can do business with this company, how do you expect people to support an IP nobody has any attachment/nostalgia/ emotional investment ect.?

So... "On Sep 9th, 2014 at 12:00PM PDT we invite you to join us for the reveal of our next project. It's a big one, it's going to be the largest production ever undertaken here at Piranha, and we want YOU to be part of it."

I thought I was part of the largest production ever undertaken by PGI... wtf? This explains a ****-ton of things about MWO lately... Sorry Devs... you lost points with me regarding your latest business decision.

My concern with the reveal time? If Apple's iPhone 6 reveal goes long, it'll run over this one.

I'm glad I didn't give PGI any more money. They can't even finish this game first. Unbelievable.

Thing is, even if the team and funds truly are somehow separate, PGI still loses. They've got an unfinished game on their hands in MWO, one which people paid good money for. PGI's reputation is inexorably tied to that game, and it will remain a drag on them until they prove - through MWO - that they can make good on their promises.

Whatever new resources they have now, they should have invested them in their reputation (i.e. finishing MWO) before tackling something else. This is idiotic.

I am going to wait to hear more before jumping to conclusions.

At this point we have no idea what phase the new title is in. If they're just announcing it, then maybe nothing has really been done and few - if any - PGI team members were pulled from their MWO duty.
Also, that writeup from PGI sounded a lot like a pitch... Meaning they're likely going to be doing funding particularly for this game... Not NECESSARILY stealing from the MWO coffers.

Regardless... PGIs repeated failures with MWO - epic, mind blowing, constant failures - should be a huge strobing, blinding warning light for anyone even remotely considering giving them money for a new title.

My concern with the reveal time? Community Warfare for Mechwarrior:Online is some two years behind schedule.

Concerns about where the money goes is absolutely founded, and the short answer is net MWO proceeds after taxes, royalties to Microsoft etc... - go directly into the development of MWO. The speed of development is largely relative to the amount of money coming in from sales. Those sales keep a team of around 35-40 people (we have external contractors) working full time on MWO development and live operations.

Our new game development is funded from a different source and we have been recruiting new talent exclusively for this project. We did move some staff around internally as needed to accommodate two productions, and their will be some shared resources (marketing, customer service, QA).
