If you read my original post, you would see that the point I bring up is rather unique or rarely discussed.

Or did you just read the thread title, assume what the content was and then make a post about it?

To be honest, I almost did. But I saw the post was by you, and knew it deserved being read first. ;)

stuff

LRMs will never be an offensive weapon unless their counters are severely reduced. You can be offensive with ballistics and lasers because you know that if you meet the enemy you can do damage. If you meet the enemy with LRMs you are dead because he has ECM ans AMS and you can't even target him, let alone lock him, let alone fire your missiles, let alone see them doing damage. Too many steps in between pressing the button and enemy turning red => not an offensive weapon.

But not an aggressive *team*. Now that the group queues are setup the way they are, and I've had the chance to fight against 12-mans, it's not rare to see a good 12-man completely wreck my team in about 1 minute of combat with direct-fire weapons. It seems like every 4 seconds someone else on my team dies. Massed LRMs will kill someone pretty fast, and it ain't any fun for the guy on the receiving end of massed LRM fire from multiple platforms, but compared to focused direct-fire, LRMs are much less efficient in terms of TTK, and effective damage-per-heat. By the time massed LRMs have killed a couple guys, all their boats are overheating and faced with opposing mechs swarming into their minimum range.

Chain Fire.

So you like my predatory grin as I switch from LRM bombardment to an AC20 in your face? I'm glad to hear you enjoy my look of joy! :D

Ordinary those who I reach rarely have the means to react well enough to cause me serious harm. That's especially counted toward someone, who wasted space & weight to put LRM launcher(s) on his mech, while my brawler is fully prepared 100% suited for that fight.
That's why I like brawling btw(one of the reasons actually) - something you know too I'm certain - the only non-constant variable in that playstyle is the long range.
Even though it sounds like a great drawback it's not that hard to overcome it - with patience, thinking, etc. -while LRM boating, for example have some drawbacks that make you useless.
Anyways - I still don't get why people jump on boating and LRMing that much having all I said in mind - even if it doesn't look so brawler builds are quite versatile ones :)

My Warhawk carries LRMs, and energy weapons.

It has TAG, and CAP.

My old Stalker also had some MLAS, and TAG and CAP.

If you choose to just go bonkers and spend every last ounce of tonnage on launchers making you unable to deal with situations that are not ideal for LRMs - then that was your choice. There is no excuse to not have TAG & CAP if you go beyond a certain number of tubes.

I like to take the fight to the enemy if playing midfield no longer works.

Artemis makes for some amazingly tight damage spread on visible targets, and in general I score much higher damage and more kills when I get to go aggressive and attack targets that I can see.

He might be confusing ECM with double ECM.

If you have 2x allied ECM, 1 NARC does have an effect (I'm unsure, and doubtful, that NARC can stack).

That's why I like stalkers -- you can put on more brawling weapons than you can possibly fire and be an overheating Nova without the ability to fade, or you can put on enough LRMs to be a threat and still have as large of a brawling loadout as you actually ever want. Bonus: after you fire LRMs, people will charge right at you, almost like they want to eat medium lasers in the face!

Even when locks are denied to me due to enemy ECM or due to lack of locks, I still dumbfire LRMs, since they set off Betty's alarm and scatter the enemy--works like a charm in Mordor. Sometimes I get to hit a moving mech with it.

LRM skill ceiling is actually pretty damn high.

I thought the beauty of dumbfiring was that it DIDN'T set off Betty's alarm? Need clarification on this.

Screen shake to be relative to LRM size and the size of the mech its hitting. I do not care how many LRM 5s you throw at my Atlas, I should not even feel them.

One thing I like about the LRMs - the face expression the LRM boating pilot makes when he meets my brawler TBR under 150m.
And then 'tis the Yardsale horn they hear.

Heh say that to my Orion M while yur eating AC and laser fire on the way in.
Got lunch?

That is funny because being aggressive counters LRMs...

unless the LRMer is aggressive....

I am the aggressive Lurmer.

You want to talk about roll on floor laughing. Take a KTO 18 or a GRF 2N onto caustic with lrm5s and an ERLL. Clear the caldera and then run at 97kph across and skim the far rim, up a uav pull back around and chainfire as you back out your side.

Everytime I see people linking Metamechs tier list I lol, he obviously never tried lrms in the KTO. Want to talk about weapons that suck on a Kintaro, SRMs. Best Lurmer in the ecm age, well Mauler 1R is just a giant KTO 19 with cannons, thats how I load and play it, so its tough to decide which is best.
