This is where I issue a rare bit of praise and Russ said it again they won't go (subject to change of position) the CoF route and im glad.

Mechwarrior thus far has always had an aiming component where those with the best aim would compete at the top.

Now if it was easy as you claim it to be Bishop we would all be walking around with 90%+ accuracy hitting nothing but CT repeatedly.

As it is; the reality is far different than that.

It depends on weather you agree with my viewpoint or not ;-) let's face it if everyone agreed the world would be much more boring and simple.

And we all hate debating equally as stubborn as ourselves.

Well, we will continue to disagree on aiming. I will say, find me the tank that has perfectly stable aiming, or any combat vehicle, at flank speed over rough terrain (and humanoid locomotion naturally sways more than wheeled/tracked (though also absorbs impact better), and I will conceded.

You want perfect aim? You stop, or go very slow for the second you line up. You don't blast 20,000 lbs of thrust out your butt and launch like a titan rocket (ok...well, like really shaky hoversled now), or sprint across broken terrain, and have millimetric precision, a kilometer out. So yeah, sorry if I feel it takes more skill to deal with things like that, and succeed, than pick a pixel.

As for why more people don't do it, it's a matter of reflexes. Some have it, some don't. But super reflexes should only take one so far, and not, IMO (note I say, IMO) negate "reality factors". Also things like the sputtering reticle under high heat load in early CB IMO (again) added a heck of a lot of immersion to the game, and helped make people more circumspect about their heat management.

As for stubborn people debating....here? In an online Stompy Robot Forum?!?!?! Never happen!

No one walks around a few days before Christmas and think it's fall anymore, that's the way it is. That you'd need to fall back on an old definition of fall no one lives by to be able to meet deadlines is just sad.

No, you just need to fall back to the definition still used by almost anyone who actually knows what they are talking about.

Are we going by middle age definitions of fall or something? Here I thought we lived in the present, silly me. I'd like you to walk up to people and tell them it's still fall on the 20th of December, people will just laugh at you.

You mean lesser educated people would laugh at him ;)

All joking aside - if somebody tells you they will do something "In the Fall", most regular people would expect it to happen before the very last minute of the very last day.

Just sayin'

Perhaps, but again, Russ even said that when he said Fall, way back when, he reserved the right to go all the way til the last day. It ain't like he didn't say it, so it ain't like it is "delayed again" regardless of Torguns continued inability to sometimes accept he doesn't know everything and learn from the experience.

You'll concede easier than I will. I want video proof of a Naval broadside all hitting within a one yard target. Then I will concede. ;)

Yeah people that aren't meteorologists, which I would assume is a majority of people out there. And Russ of course and his fall fighters.

I vaguely remember that. I really did adore the old burn animations on mechs when lasers hit and the glowey bits. They were extremely intensive on computers though, which I assume was just some bad optimization moreso than the animation itself being all that graphically intensive. I also miss my wubs. My poor poor wubs.

Yeah, optimization has been an issue. I hear CryEngine is a notorious resource hog though, so IDK how much is PGI optimization fail, and how much is the code just sucks for the desired result. I do know SC has had a few delays, related to cryengine limitations, despite having a lot more dough to through at the problem.

Evidently you're the only one that believes this is an old definition. Do you even watch the weather? Every forecast I've seen on either the equinox or solstice includes a mention of a change in season.

Accept it and move on, you're wrong.

This debate is because of a quote that Russ made about Fall technically ending on Dec 21. It's a technicality, get over it.

I'm not a meteorologist either. Just paid attention in school. maybe modern schools really are getting bad about providing basic education?

I'd love for you to explain exactly how any of the players can, I quote, "continue to sabotage and undermine their every move". I understand this particular talking point is quite popular with the pro crowd but surely you must realize how absurd it is to suggest that agonizingly slow development, re-prioritization towards monetization and just underwhelming quality is somehow the fault of the people who are unhappy.

Did someone go over to the PGI offices and break legs? Burn down the studio perhaps? Slip laxatives into their soda? How exactly was this sabotage achieved?

Paging Bishop Steiner. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Have you been in California around that time? To a Michigander like myself... It is still fall

Most people don't consider mid-December to be fall, that's all I'm saying. But yeah technically I'm wrong, happy?

You mean there are people out there who don't instinctively know that the Fall season takes up most of December? Assuming they are therefore wrong about all the other seasons as well... How do they function in society??

I for one hope we see CW long before Dec. Thanks for the acknowledgement. Happy? I'm usually described as a happy guy, yes. Didn't mean to gang up on you. ;)

OK, so old and ignorant. Something to be proud of? (Which is not something I want to accuse you. But refusing facts and arguing against them, is silly)

Or we can acknowledge a different viewpoint, and move forward. The point having been, from the get go that Russ said it could be up til Dec 21. Really our differing opinions on "Fall" are rather irrelevant to that, you know?

It is the horrible end and I have math to proove it. The new game is revealed soon and it is no accident it happens in 9.9.2014.

If you tip over the day and the month and do some creative calculating with the year (2+0+1x4) you will get badly camouflaged 666!

They'd end up wearing winter clothes several weeks before the fall is over, totally killing fashion seasons as we now know it should be!
