For the record, Lowe was never removed and it's pretty well balanced. Only Type59 was removed, and with good reason - while it was an average tank by itself, they had some matchmaking "problems" - the MM put large groups of them into one team, with a devastating result for the other team.

Being a long-time WoT player, I'm not afraid that Founder Mechs will break the game, unless the devs decide to release a "pay-to-win" machine that is far superior to regular Mechs. Otherwise, all they really give is some extra income, which might actually ecourage people to play other machines more, because they will spend less time grinding money and can spend more time in machines they like.

I have to disagree on that, Lowe was indeed removed from game because of matchmaking problem, better to say because of same problem as Type 59, and that would be that ration of Lowe in matches was too high (months after Lowe was released you had like 4-5 of them in each match, same as Type ) ; I know this because I bought one at the beggining and I played WoT from beta (and still do more-less active).I also remember fiasco with Lowe price changing from 7500 to 12500 gold because Wargaming decided it was too good money maker and that was their solution to diminshing their numbers (also to make it avaliable only in Gift stores as it is now)

At the end of the day the mech you get and outfit in the first month can pretty much see you through till the severs shut down.

The grind will really only get you variety, and since the founder benefits just reduce some grind its not really an advantage unless you consider variety an advantage

OP, would you be making this thread if your were Legendary? Of course not, so get on the bus!

Honestly though, to your point I thought about it too. I came to the conclusion that these founders will make great starter Mechs or "farmers", but at the end of the day, Im going to play whatever Mech I love most.

I'll just quote this for OP to see it twice...
And my love goes to Atlas as IS assault mech..the bonus is i get to play it and earn with it, not just lose credits..

I see no problem with the Founder's 'Mechs. So long as PGI sticks to their guns as they have stated, and keep everything on a level playing field for availability, it is simply a matter of how much time you spend on a specific 'Mech. My Founder's 'Mech (the Jenner) is the only one of the four that initially interested me, so I'm personally getting both the benefit as well as piloting a 'Mech I'm interested in.

A potential issue for some people is time, as well. While I will likely spend waaaaay too much time playing MWO, I don't have the time crunch that some people with families/multiple jobs/lives might have. Only being able to spend an hour or two playing, I can see the benefit for those people to earn C-Bills somewhat faster so they don't have to invest as much time.

And, it goes without saying that PGI deserves the support, and if I'd had the money available, it'd be a Legendary tag over there on the left.

i also got the hunch but honestly ill mostly play centurion and commando once i get those mechs. the c-bill boost is just so we can get to the mechs we want faster. Your assuming that other people only care about getting the most money per match instead of loving the mechs for being mechs they want to play

Farm money to buy weapons and new mechs which you will earn per match and founder mechs earn more

I'm pretty sure that there will be other premium mechs that will allow the same thing and you will be able to buy them as special variants of standard chasis. It's possible that they will not be permanent or it will be just a buff to your current mechs but the option will surely be there for everyone with enough money.

I'm hoping to try out the commando. In the computer games, I always prefered long range support, but that mech looks too cool to keep away from. Who knows I might even like it...

Imo, the founder's mechs are a way for the people that love those mechs to be able to get one of those with a C-bill bonus, plus the fact that you support the game and the premium/in-game cash. In my case, I really like the jenner, so it's a way to already get one with a bonus and skin on it, but that dosen't mean it would be the only thing I pilot..

just my 2 cents

I think the problem is the lack of information we have. . WoT had a long extended open beta, by the time the game went live, everyone knew what to expect from the in game economy and the role of Premium Vehicles. With MW:O this isn't happening (yet), so it's all speculation.

Founders Mechs have extra 25% Cbills, now, that says to me that somethings in the game are going to be costly enough that people are going to have to grind for them. .

Also, it was said that a founders mech gives you a foothold on a "Mech Tree" so, i guessing we need xp and cbills to move along that tree ala WoT? . . Grind Atlas to unlock Awesome?

We need more information on how the in game economy works.

I bought the Founders pack for a few reasons.

1) To financially support a game I really am looking forward to playing

2) So I have the extra C-Bill earning capability to use if I ever find myself cash poor in game

3) Guaranteed early access, baby!

Ditto, there will alway be better mechs I will want to drive.

To be honest I got the founders pack to support the game....didn't even realize there was a bonus to the mechs. Perhaps I should read more and not get overly excited.

I bought the elite pack mainly to support the franchise I have been playing since the IBM XT days.

I don't see this being an issue. In most games serious players stop worrying about money relatively quickly because its pretty easy to accumulate vaste hordes of cash. I suspect that will be the case for me and I will have very little motivation to continue using them *just* for the farming boost.

Beta Wot player, and long time Mechwarrior fan. I cant wait, but as to the OP's post. I think they will adjust the bonus on mechanics as time goes by and people start complaining.

Any idea are you able to grind as much c-bills with a Jenner compared to Atlas?

In other words should I buy premium Atlas just for the grindings sake?

This is partly why I didn't buy a founder's pack --> "well, if you let it make you want to do that, its your fault!! ahurp". It's human nature to min/max everything

Only question is, will you be going "ahurp - I KNEW I SHOULD OF GOT THAT WHEN ITS OFFERED!" Cause it is human nature to minmax, do you not plan exactly how you are going to run errands during the day and maybe make a slight detour for something else...or do you just go the store once a week, grab a shopping cart, browse the isles, walk out 45 minutes later, and go "OMG! THAT WAS A WASTE OF TIME I DIDN'T NEED ANYTHING!" cause there is a reason you went to the store, minmaxed your time, picked up milk, eggs, P&B jelly + bread, toilet paper, and soap as it would be majorly stupid to just run to the store everytime you need 1 single item.

Basicly, you plan in advance to make maximum profit of your time and the founders mechs will do that...what I can manage to accumulate in 4 days may take you 5 days, in 4 weeks I will have as much as you do in 5, in 4 months you will have as much after 5...see where there is going? Its a bonus, people won't just stick with the founders mech, they will want to try something else because they will have the means to buy it, requip it in the mech bay, and cover the repairs + ammo with it.

I don't think we'll be grinding through atlas to awesome. That would mean previous mechs in the tier are obsolete. Not sure how they'd do it, but that would be the wrong way.
