By Russ own admission PGI has been runnig as its own entity since beginning of August. Today was, Decals-soon. CW, soon. Community tools no. Big things, soon. New Mech Pack, on its way. Sooo in actual fact what has changed since IGP walked out?. Not alot it seems.

Oh come now = one month in Game development isn't time to do anything, where your employed in game development or just like playing games everyone knows that.

Decals - Yes - I said we need to put UI engineers on it but there priority will be CW phase 2 first
CW - Yep
Community tools - not exactly I said after this year is complete which means swamp map and the CW map - we would look into involving community in votes on maps and MAYBE going a step further with map development but that was not figured out in the least.
Big things soon - Not sure what this is please define.
New mech pack yes - 1) players were asking for it 2) mech developers do not make anything else or make CW or other features 3) do we want the clans with just 8 mechs?.

If you feel its the same that is fine but lets lay out the facts correctly and I will just work at doing as we said. But I wont let the community have us fail deadlines that are fictional. Our next true deadline to the community is CW phase 2 this year...fair enough

One month in a lot of industries isn't that much time to accomplish much.

Unfortunately "soon" in today's internet mind means by the time you get to the "n" in soon while reading.

Please make it happen.

Been waiting so long, I want a reason to play this game every day again.

Hmm...

Well, According to the fluff, we're looking at

Uller (Jaaaaaade Falcon)
Puma (Wolf)
Nova (Slightly more wolf)
Stormcrow (Smoooooke Jaguar)
Summoner (Jaaaaaade Falcon)
Timberwolf (WOOOOOOOOLF)
Dire Wolf (Smoke Jaguar)
Warhawk (Smoke Jaguar)

That puts 2 points for Jade Falcon, Three points for smoke Jaguar, and three points for the wolves...

There is a suspiciously low amount of love for the Ghost Bears.

As such, I would guess that, if MASC is released, we'll see

Fire Moth
Viper or Ice Ferret
Mad Dog*
and of course, Executioner.

If there will be no Masc, then
Mist Linx
Viper
Mad Dog*
Gargoyle

The Hellbringer is still possible, and one of my favorites, but I doubt that it'd be released.

The Ebon Jaguar is a timeline appropriate mech, too.. It has far more timeline compatible variants than the Vulture, which only has 3 realistic variants we can get out at 3050, and excluding Alt-Config A.

Variant A mounts six SRM6 launchers right out of the box.. Can you imagine how stupid powerful that would be? Legs barely have a chance against 5 launchers shot at once, 6 in a go would knock them right off.

-shrug- 4 CSRM6 and two CERPPC on my Timberwolf do just fine carving up legs, arms, torsos.... By the by, that's more or less a stock Alt.D Timberwolf, I just don't care for CSSRM6, nore can I havve them rear facing... :(

Still all being said and done, Russ is correct a month is nothing in the world of delvopment, as well as to everyone claiming that the under $1000 spent on the game gives you a right to have what you want done first, get over yourselves, $1000, will not keep the company going in anyway shape or form, it would at best buy them a few hours of work time, once you factor out wages and fixed costs.

TL;DR for the above paragraph:

Less QQ about things taking time, more understanding and be happy with what you have right now.

Mech creators and modelers do not make maps. CW has been in full swing since as soon as IGP was removed from the picture.

Hmm, I imagine that is true, but one of your people did say around the time Clan mechs were released that the maps had been delayed due to all hands being on deck to get the Clans out. Mech creators and modelers do not make maps, but do map makers make mechs? Seems a little contradictory don't you think?

True the Caldron-Born, Shadowcat, Grendel, and some other mechs were around in 3050 and the clans were using them. However, those mechs were not seen in the Inner Sphere until the battle of Tukayyid in 3052. The only clan mechs we have available for release now are the 16 invasion omnimechs from the 3050 TRO. That's what makes it so easy to guess what will be in the pack. We already have half of them in game and there are a couple we can't even get because of MASC.

Since PGI released the Mad-Cat S with jump jets and didn't remove any weapon hard points from the Daishi and others, do you really think they are going to be concerned about the Vulture A being OP? There is some nasty ghost heat from firing 6 SRM6s at once. That's why you don't see "Splat-Cats" very often anymore.

No MASC! Moving on, I'm betting its Light - Mist Lynx (Koshi) Medium - Viper (Dragonfly) Heavy - Hellbringer (Loki) Assault - Gargoyle (Man O' War) Mad Dog (Vulture) being the exclusive fifth design, though I suppose the Loki could be this and the Vulture is the pack one.

im hoping for the gladiator instead of the manowar

hope they just get rid of loki apods and add 2 heat sinks or structure slots.

So well all pretty much agree on what we *might get
Mist Linx
Viper
Mad Dog & Hellbringer either one toss up as bonus.
Gargoyle

So I'm worried that I have a hard time making a good War-hawk build other then the B variant and this Gargoyle looks like a POS hard point wise. Have they ever added more weapon slots to existing mechs already in game that didn't originally have them per lore or battle tech standards? I don't know all the mechs good enough to spot an example if they did.

Anyways i really hope Russ just trolled us saying no Masc but we still get mechs that had masc. The fact that he talked about and knows it would be a problem and had examples mean they were thinking about or planned on using some of those mechs and had them built or tinkered with them already???? please please please! I want Executioner and shadow-cat :(

Also the heavy % launch que are the highest, upwards to 40% most of the time. Adding another Loved mech Mad Dog is only going to make this worse not to mention a heavy with ECM on top of that. little worried here for at least first couple months while everyone grinds them and then Timber-wolf is released for C bills and MC and we start it all over again. but it will be spaced over the next few months so that will help.

Ok as much as I get on PGI's case and usually disagree with 90% of everything Russ has to say. I have to 100% agree with Russ here.

One month isn't enough time to do anything except perhaps lay some groundwork and planning. They are going to need a minimum of 3-6 months to push any significant changes to us.

However, if we don't see a fair amount of positive changes at the end of 6 months, then we might have cause for concern.

Also just wanted to point out that seeing a post on these forums by Russ is in and of itself a positive change. I can't recall the last time I have seen him or really anyone from PGI actually post in the General Discussion so I for one see this as a very positive move on PGI's part.

Qudos for posting Russ and welcome back. Now just listen to us a little bit now and again and perhaps we will get things back on track with this game.

I spent some time talking with people about this last night. I think the Kingfisher or Hankyu are possibilities for the bonus mech:

Hankyu:
+5 variants and the prime are all potentials for MWO.
+Hardpoint generous and with all 3 types over its variants.
+Another ECM option for Clans in CW.
+A faster ride for Clan light pilots.
+A first look at MWO clantech in humanoid form

-Humanoid light means fairly low sex appeal and lots of work for PGI to model.

Kingfisher:
+Ghost Bear mech.
+90 ton beast means feels like a bigger reward
+4 variants plus its prime config are potentials for MWO.
+Can build around big dakka or big energy weapons.
+Cannot boat missiles, meaning it does not fully eclipse the Masakari.
+Our first 90-ton clan mech.

-It has Endo + FF and 5 tons on the Masakari, it will probably be an upgrade in almost every role although its a plodding assault not quick or fast and it doesn't look like it can mount more than 3 launchers.
-Humanoid and with a very boring look. Work cut out to make it cool and again PGI can't cannibalize any other clan mechs to model it.

I think either of those would be fitting choices.

I would trade a Kingfisher for the gargoyle and be happy. the light i think will be good either way. But yes the Cheetah would be the best if we cant get fire moth

Map makers are 3D artists too. If they can make the map assets you're looking and bumping against every time you play, why can't they build a leg or an arm or parts of a cockpit, etc?

Not being a specialist on making mechs doesn't mean they can't contribute effectively to the cause (when told "You're going to make mechs and LIKE IT" :P <humour> ) .

"Big things soon" is, I would think, a comment regarding the carrot on a stick updates we have received in the past where nothing materialized from said announcement. "CW in 90 days" and such.

Again, trust can be re-gained and you guys seem to, at the least, be putting much effort into doing so.

Many of us won't be convinced until we see proof, as should be expected.
