The bottom line is this: there are some games that you can't avoid having money transactions between players since they are based on player driven economy. In MWO this has been avoided so far with a great success. If PGI introduces auction houses, it also introduces money transactions from player to player (and RMT along with that). Let me give you a glimpse of the future in this case.
-RMT companies will start a few thousand accounts, since they cost nothing
-They will make a really simple program that launces a mech in game and it will remain there without fighting for farming reasons
-Multiple accounts, mutliple mechs, multiple games, etc. They may even form groups to that goal (the tools for that exist)
-In less than a month most games will have more than half the mechs in a game consisting of inactive farmers. Kiss solo (and maybe group) games goodbye.

I guess you do realize that no company can take measures against that.

Yea uh no most games like this do NOT have auction houses. Not sure where you got that idea,
