So I guess my question is what are the plans to get people to keep fielding IS mechs, as more and more clan mechs become available for C-bills I when I look at my options for a drop think that the clan mechs just out class their IS counterparts. The Madcat is a pretty classic example, as soon as I had one I sold my Jagers and my highlander, as well as my catapults. It was a no Brainer it has jump jets, can mount ballistics, can boat lasers, can drop a missile platform, it can fill any of the rolls that any of the 3 other mechs could do but quite frankly do them better. With the exception of the IS light mechs that seem able to get a speed advantage over most clan mechs. I can't see any reason to use IS mechs again, I have sold off my stable all but my trusty Jenner that is for the cbills to collect Clan tech and mechs. Am I the only one that feels this way ? What are peoples thoughts ? And if a dev eyes fall on this post can you shed some light on how you plan to prevent MWOL from becoming Timberwolf Online when the drop for c-bills in Nov lol.

I field Inner Sphere Mechs cause I want to see if I/we can beat the Clans even with inferior weapons. Making them "just as good as the Clans" is kinda ruining my desire.

The way I've always seen it, the IS should be like underground, no gloves boxing. It ain't about the precision. It's about bringing the big mechs out to play, getting up close and personal, and beating the opponent into submission.

Clans on the other hand, should be more like fencing. It isn't about bringing big guns. It's about being quick and nimble, outmaneuvering the opponent, and taking them down with cold, calculated precision.

I like it. I certainly treat my Orions and Jagers like back alley, slobberknocking brawlers. (And gotta admit, love the instant panic from mighty Clanners when they come around a corner and find me and another guy tag teaming in BoomJagers. Literally stripped both torsos of one in a single volley that way. His armor had already been hit with LRMs, and he THOUGHT he was running for shelter. Pop. Buh bye.

There is a Wub Crow!

Then there is...this...play it at your own risk (and mebbe don't alpha...)

:D

EDIT: I decided to build it and take it into the testing grounds, alternating 3 then 3 CLPLs was surprisingly not awful...

You call that Wub, I call that 200% burn times. (alright, 150% for the MPL)

WubShee can be so very fun, but the 6 heat on the MPL, instead of the proper 4, killed it over the ERML. No reason to take it anymore.

Just played 3 games with my trusty A1 to try out the LRM5 module. In total, got 9 kills, 19 assists and 2600 damage done.

Unless PGI releases the Mad Dog A, nothing can replace my A1. ;)

Summoner G side torsi would allow for 10 LRM5s, or 8+Tag. 10 SRM2s would be interesting.

True.

But your best bet is to re-reat the latest clan balance post in Command Chair. In summary yes I hope to stay away from the weapons now. We have a few other things to try first like penalties for LT or RT destruction on a clan mech and IS mech Quirks.

I hope that's not true. You touched my Cute Fox in his WubMaker...and it was just a bad touch all around.

MPL and ERML now have the same 6 heat, while the MPL should have 4, both for IS and Clan. They are underperforming weapons, which are now excessively hot.

Please, balance with range, damage and recycle. Don't nerf heat anymore. The SL is still at 200% heat from the Slunchback days, same as the 130% on the ML.

LL is at 88% heat
ERLL is at 66% heat,
cERLL is at 75% heat....

isSL is at 200% heat
isML is at 133% heat
cERSL is at 150% heat
cERML is at 120% heat
cSPL is at 170% heat
cMPL is at 150% heat

I've taken to playing IS mechs exclusively despite owning a timbergod and doom crow. Why? For the challenge. I know I'm not the best pilot, and in those things I was pulling 800-1000 matches which shouldn't be happening honestly. It's like when I took the KTO-18(C) for Liao the challenge focused wins. Pure cheese and artificial numbers, but it served a purpose. A selfish dirty purpose. Now I'm back to grinding out crap matches in gimpy mechs, proud of 3-4 kills and breaking 500+. It makes me a better pilot, and I don't feel like I need a shower after playing.

Like some people have said, it's the look and the feel of what you like sometimes. Also, the excitement when you do well in something that everyone says in underrated.

Currently on Clan side the only 2 chassis I have always liked were the Summoner and Stormcrow. Now if they add in the Hellbringer, Shadow Cat, Ebon Jaguar, Grizzly, and Mad Dog, then I'll like more of them. But I have more favorites on the IS side; Highlander, Hunchback, Thunderbolt, Raven, Griffin, Shadowhawk, JagerMech, Orion, Cataphract, Banshee, Awesome, and Stalker in terms of look and feel. Edit: Cicada

I like my IS mech purely out of fact that I can change them around more. Sure, you can change LT/RT/RA/LA all day with Clan, but can you change the engine or move the darn HS in the leg? No. Plus I love fast lights, and don't get me wrong, but the Clan lights seem more like small mediums with that kind of load out and speed. I have a DireWolf and TimberWolf, but I find more enjoyment out my my Stalker and Catapult at times.

Because, Clans don't have a LOCUST!!! Its not how many weapons you have, its how you use them. My Kit fox and Nova are sitting in mech bays parked with dust on them. I haven't played a clan mech since a day before the nerf bat came down.

Besides, My Jager DD or S with triple Ultra AC/5's and med laser shred limbs, legs, Torso's of Clan mechs all the time. I have had matches with my damage well into high 900's. 4-6 kills.

I have been one that has really been waiting for the timber to come out for C-bills.... I got a chance to play it on the test server. IMO, yes its a decent heavy mech, yeah it has JJ, but they come at a price of 1 ton per, I really wasn't to impressed with the timbers. Really glad I didn't pull the wallet out for them for sure!

Yep you can throw 7 mediums on a Twolf-C with a big fat targeting computer and nice heat ratio.

I've got nearabouts 130 mechs, all mastered, and I try to drive them all. I spent the time to master them, and I enjoy the variety. I don't find my clan mechs to be "OP" - they do bigger damage but for the most part the time to kill is roughly the same.

I guess the simple answer for me is: "Not everyone wants to root for the Yankees."

The IS is underdogs and that's a more appealing story to me than the might of the Clans.

I don't think so.

Then again, I don't have the good Clan mechs. After the heat nerfs killed my WubFox, and didn't leave the Nova faring much better, I've gone back to most of my IS builds.

We have the "WubWolf."

There are actually more reasons to play IS mechs than there are to play Clans.

Clans have these reasons:

(1) New shiny
(2) XL engines
(3) different

IS has these reasons:

(1) Many more different shinies
(2) Greater customization
(3) PP FLD by the metric ton
(4) Standard PPC (it is that good to warrant mentioning here...seriously)
(5) More ECM mechs
(6) Better light mechs
(7) Best mech in the game (albeit a hero) the Dragon Slayer
