tbh the A-Pod thing seems like the perfect built-in excuse to not implement a fast, versatile heavy with ECM.

The A-Pod thing is the perfect excuse to not implement a fast versatile heavy with ecm???? Pretty sure the perfect excuse to not implement a fast versatile heavy with ecm is that it's a fast versatile heavy with ecm... Using an unrelated issue to justify something based upon a completely different issue is never, ever a good excuse... In fact it's a very bad excuse.

If the reason the mech is to not be included is based on it's speed, versatility, and ecm, then the reason for not introducing it should be based on it's speed, versatility and ecm...

I mean an excuse for PGI that doesnt involve admitting ECM is silly OP - thats what an excuse generally is, a reason given to do / avoid doing something that, while valid, is not the real reason.

If they admit ECM is silly OP, it becomes harder to justify not fixing it. But fixing it is hard, given that so many other things are balanced around its current state. (and part of its balance, it seems, is only allowing it to be on otherwise shitbox mechs)

I used those that fit the timeline. The ones from your list were the original 16 and of those, the Fire Moth and the Executioner come with MASC and are therfore currently invalid. That would leave us with 8 out of 14 we already have and 6 missing (and listed in my post above). If we limit ourself to those 6 possible mechs and also exclude the Hellbringer for the AP-Pods on the Prime variant, we would have a list of 5 mechs. That would make it the Mist Lynx, Viper, Ice Ferret, Mad Dog and Gargoyle. With either the of the two mediums being the bonus mech for clan-package owners (yet do be declared, if for all of them or only for those who buy the wave 2 mechs) and the other as part of the package.

I really want to see the Gargoyle. Even though it doesn't have Endo, i'm really keen to see what Alex would do with it.

Plus, it's fast, and there's an energy boat variant.

My guess would be the Mist Lynx, Ice ferret, Mad Dog and Gargoyle.

I expect that any mechs which come out will be from the 30050 technical readout. Since we are excluding MASC equipped mechs, the gargoyle and the Mist Lynx are certainties and the Mad Dog would be the biggest selling point.

I'm hoping (more than anything) that the medium would be the Ice Ferret as the Viper is a bit poop and will probably end up being DOA.

Removing the AP-pods and using their tonnage towards something else won't be that big of a deal... They already take 4 crits and two tons meaning they can very easily be replaced by 2x clan double heat sinks which that variant drastically needs anyway. I hardly think that the AP pods are a reason to keep the prime out of the game.

I expect the A-Pods to be akin to the Command Console before it was properly implemented; a space filling piece of nothingness which weighs a bit and can be removed, probably to be replaced with ammo or heat sinks.

There are currently no plans for infantry (the only thing AP-Pods are usefull for) and no announcement so far.

Hm, havent Russ said someting about AI and the possibilities at the TownHall? Would be a very great Idea if Mechs with some pods can pop out pods against some NPC AI-Eles.
NPC AI-Eles could be used like the artillery or airstrike.

Its a shame, the gargoyle is going to be TERRIBLE. Similar speed to a timberwolf, with worse hardpoints, cant jump, and like 25% less tonnage for weapons. Its only purpose will be premade clan only teams that want to move REALLY fast, so need a really fast assault (for 3/3/3/3 purposes)... and TBH a warhawk is probably fast enough anyway.

This is Clan Faction based this time according to Russ. So here is my guess.

Light - Myst Lynx - CSJ
Medium - Viper - CGB
Heavy - Hellbringer - CJF
Assault - Gargoyle - CW

Bonus - Mad Dog - Because we have been harassing them so.

I feel with you :( Of all the Clan 'Mechs, the Shadow Cat is my favourite 'Mech (next to the Summoner, of course).

That's exactly why the Mad Dog won't be the free mech -- popular mechs sell better
