So there you have it. I am never going to buy another hero mech until you guys start writing some backstory for them. And not only that, I am never buying another mech until you fill in backstory for ALL OF THE HERO MECHS UP UNTIL NOW. *stomps foot*

lol

Nearly all Hero mechs have a backstory...

just check sarna, those hero variants usualy are not conjured out of thin air.

That's cool and all, but it's kind of annoying that we have to search all over the internet for this kind of stuff.
If the story already exists, it would have been super easy for PGI to copy/paste it over here for us.

ähm 1:1 copy paste? Nope, because of copyrights. Well it should not be too much work to make own short descriptions out of the history informations out there.
Further I think the Sarna folks would have no problem if someone would ask them kindly if its possible to use some Mechinfo parts out of the wiki.

@Livewyr: SMH? Whats that?

Could be a nice little community Groupwork. PGI give us a XML skelleton to fill out with descriptions, the community will fill it out and do checks about copyrights and validity of the Data.

Would be very interesting how much time it will take for the community till such a document is finished and ok for every Lore follower. ;)

Not long given a number of Sarna contributors do play MWO. Using me as an example, my Sarna handle is Cyc and if you check the Griffin edit history I updated both the Sparky entries after complaints on Reddit that the weapons layout was unclear...

Sure, but what prevents Niko from copy-pasting that backstorty from Sarna? ;)

BTW, i totally agree with the OP. Even a few lines of background are appreciated, it is all about the small things, quiaff? B)

I would agree there CyclonerM, i am all for all these little "fluffs", but one has to care for the more important, bigger issues present, to be able to enrich the content with the more "minor" ones.

Cool. I would like to see some approaches to embed the community or groups of MWO ppl. in some processes

Since I play MWO I have got to know so much professional individuals with solid skills in that what the are doing. 3D Artists, writers (mainly cool Journalists), former Gamedevs, Managers, Housewifes, Speakers, Nerds and so on.

A community is not always the sum of dumb people who .chase the same thing. ;)

Exactly.

Riddle me this, since it would take all of 15-30 minutes to ADD a backstory, in what way would it hurt for them to have them? For those like you who disdain Fluff (heathen!), you don't have to read it. For those who DO like it, it's there. Called a win/win, quiaff?

It'd be indeed interesting to have the backstory at least included. Sure, it's on SARNA, but not everyone knows that website exists. And just because it already exists, doesn't mean PGI shouldn't include a bit of backstory or lore. That sort of stuff, small or not, adds flavour, which has been a bit light lately. Add face to my 'Mechs.

Also hire more people from the community to do lore news or something. Even if the game is fairly limited at the moment, having something on the forums or website at least adds a bit of depth, something us BattleTech fans can enjoy.

It would be nice to have some history for every chassis and not just the Hero Mechs. Lore can captivate people to get invested in something and this card is not played in MWO.

It wouldn't hurt at all. I'm not arguing against adding them. I just stated that i couldn't care less if they are there or not.

Heres your backstory for Sparky

•GRF-1E2 Griffin Sparky 2.0 The personal ‘Mech of Leftenant Natasha Ergen of the 5th FedCom RCT, her stock Griffin had been refitted with Ferro-Fibrous armor and a Light Fusion Engine. Fourteen Double Heat sinks and a Targeting Computer allowed Ergen to obtain maximum effect from an all-energy weapons array consisting of an ER PPC, two standard Medium Lasers mounted one per side torso alongside three ER Medium Lasers, one mounted in each torso component. BV (2.0) = 1,862[21]

Have fun.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Griffin

Point being, it's a lore hero, so a backstory already exists for it.

Actually, they are selling the orginal Sparky. You gave info on Sparky 2. ;)

Nevermind, already addressed.
