THE VIEWS EXPRESSED IN THIS THREAD ARE IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM, TO BE CONSIDERED THE OFFICIAL VIEW OF CLAN GHOST BEAR INTERNATIONAL. THIS IS MY VIEW ON WELL............EVERYTHING.
So PGI has announced that they cut ties with IGP. In light of that, I want to talk about what has happened, what is happening & what I hope WILL happen.
I am a Clansman. I have been a Clansman ever since I was a child, watching the Battletech Animated Series & seing Andrew Steiner have the audacity to dare to refuse Nicolai Malthus' batchall. MW3 was my first BT/MW game & my first online game back when connecting to the internet meant you could not receive phone calls because you were using a 56k dial up modem. It was a time of Gamespy & MSN Gaming Zone.............a.k.a the good old days.
I LOVE MW3. Yes you read that right, there is no "D" at the end to indicate past tense. I still love it. From the campaign intro thrusting you into the BT universe:
to the simple to use but still detailed mechlab:
it is a great game. The only problem is in 2014 the graphics look WAY old because the game was done in 1999. Skipping past the arcade looking MW4 we had MWLL & now MWO. I was looking forward to another boxed game with a single player campaign to get acquainted & immerse myself in a compelling story line with multiplayer added to enjoy the game with my friends. Instead we got this.................
So we started in Closed beta with only IS mechs, a minus in my book seeing as MW3, MW3:PM, MW4:V, MW4:BK & MW4:M all had Clan mechs from the beginning. Yes I got it was "Beta" & things needed to be worked on..........fine.
Skip to now & the way PGI has bungled this is amazing.

Clan equipment is SUPPOSED to be better. WAY better. To quote TROs & all the text from novels would only serve to make this a super long post. I will sum it up with one line that I think encompasses everything:
Haakon Magnusson shook his head. "The Clans make our weapons look like toys compared to what they bring to battle."
Blood of Kerensky Trilogy - Book 2 - Blood Legacy
Nerfing the Clans is IDIOTIC. You are enraging & ostracizing a sizeable chunk of your fan base by constantly surrendering to whining noobs & IS stalwarts.
What is their excuse? It would break the game. Nobody would play IS mechs anymore. You know what I say to that?
You know WHY I say that?
Because since 1999 people have been playing puretech (i.e. IS forces use only IS equipment & mechs & Clan forces only use Clan equipment & mechs)matches both casually as well as in Leagues.Sure there have been mixtech games but there have been a LOT of puretech games spanning MW3->MW3:PM->MW4:V->MW4:BK->MW4:V.
You say, "Having a faction in the game that is technologically superior to another faction is not economically viable & therefore doomed to failure."
I give you StarCraft.
Quote
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty has been met with critical acclaim since its release. It received an aggregated score of 92.39% at GameRankings and 93/100 at Metacritic. The game was particularly praised for retaining the popular RTS gameplay from StarCraft, while introducing new features and improved storytelling. GamesRadar felt that "in many ways, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty feels like StarCraft 2.0 – and that’s a good thing", stating that it "delivers on all fronts". NZGamer.com said the game was "the best RTS game released in years and one of the best games on PC".

I want to focus on two of the three factions featured in StarCraft:
Protoss
The Protoss are a race in the StarCraft series. They are composed of two societies, the conservative Khalai Protoss and the exiled dark templar. The Protoss are depicted as a physically strong species with access to advanced psionic abilities. The Protoss are considered the most technologically advanced race of the series
Clearly the Protoss are the Clans:
divided into two societies: Crusader & Warden
physically strong species: genetically enhanced warriors (+ Elementals)
most technologically advanced race: omnimechs, better equipment & weapons
powerful & mysterious aliens, fanatical about ancient beliefs, spent lots of years developing advanced technology, could not stop homeworld being overrun, bravest most efficient warriors, handful of troops lays a beatdown on larger enemy forces, durable plasma shield (clan ff armor), instantly deploying troops to the battlefield (hot drop), 4 distinct cybernetic units (stalkers-light, sentries-medium, immortal-heavy, colossus-assault), high templar (elemental in regular combat), dark templar (elementals on headhunter missions), monster of a ship=weapon without equal (dropship, turtle bay, nism?)
Terrans
The Terrans are a fictional future version of humanity in the StarCraft series. The Terrans are the most splintered of the StarCraft species, consisting of multiple factions that not only fight the other races but each other as well. Considered an adaptive and mobile species...........
Now who could that be???????
splintered.... multiple factions: the successor states
adaptive & mobile species: though outclassed & outgunned by the Clans' superior tech & training, they adapt & use their mobility engaging in guerilla warfare
When you decide to play the game, you get an overview of the factions & you CHOOSE one knowing the pros & cons, the strenghts & weaknesses & you live with it.
