I love you guys, all you beautiful strangers. It was good and promising in the early days... those first 500 (myself included)... I'm sure we all felt the joy I did. We will all meet on the mechwarrior battlefield in the future when a decent and respected or at least half capable developer picks up the name... after PGI go bust.

I'm afraid they might just abandon that name and create another game studio (or just leave the industry for a while) like they did in the past. And with all that bad karma we will not see any BT games in the near future...

I really want to hold out hope that some kind of singleplayer will be released before PGI kill the servers.
It is a decently fun game, but the community management can be toxic to say the least.

Well said my friend.
I love BattleTech and I love MechWarrior, but the attitude of this company and it's representatives actually made me start to avoid anything to do with them. Too many sour memories, too many broken promises.
It just astonishes me that someone living in 2014 can be so dense when dealing with the internet and their own customers.

So far the "Community Warfare" we have had since almost day 1 is infinitely more entertaining than anything I think we'll get in game. Prove me wrong.
I think it has been said before, but hell hath no fury like a longstanding fanbase scorned. Not at all surprised at any of this.

I would like to extend my condolences to the team of designers and developers at PGI not directly involved in the PR issues we're seeing right now. I'm sure they just want to make something cool. Unfortunately, there's too much bad blood between this developer and the people who would invest in video games with their own hard-earned money.
I started http://www.reddit.co...nsverseTheGame/ so that the community could have a free and open place to discuss this concept by PGI, free from censorship. Although this game may never see the light of day, I feel it's important that people be able to express themselves freely about any idea, especially one involving creative pursuits such as this one.
It is not likely that I will post here again. Thanks for the memories, MWO community.

I'm outing myself for this, but I posted in the thread already so my head's on the chopping block alongside all the other brave founders who posted here.
Hi, my name is PoptartsNinja and I'm a goon!
I'm a goon who has had short stories published with Catalyst, who got so excited for MWO that I wrote lengthy fluff pieces for The Mittani in spite of having no connection at all with EVE online, and who has had an active "Let's Play: BattleTech" thread on the SA forums for nearly four years. Fanart created for my thread served as a springboard that allowed one other goon to become an artist for official BattleTech TROs. I love BattleTech, it's a fantastic universe. I don't have a Reddit account, so I take great pride in knowing that I am responsible for the "takeover" of r/mwo.
Goons may ruin everything but we didn't ruin this. I'm just kicking back on my island to watch.
Thanks for keeping the dream alive, Battletech's future lies in the players hands not the group who holds the IP.

I suggest you all take a look at Heavy Gear Assault being developed by MekTek, the dudes who were involved with MW4: Mercs. At least until we maybe possibly highly unlikely actually get CW this year.

It's not like Battletech/Mechwarrior is one of the few IPs I actually care about. It's not that PGI has mistreated the community and failed to deliver at almost every turn.
No. It's me.

I admire your optimism! They won't do anything they can't make **** loads of money from. I get the feeling this games gonna rapidly come to a stop. I give it till the new year... but I'll keep my fingers crossed that they make a single player mode.

You're not wrong. Look him up on linkedin. He has no professional community management experience except running a fan website.
That makes him kinda like Paul. A dude with no history of action games or serious competitive titles. Reading about him will make you realize he's bad at design because he has literally never worked on a game with mechanics like this before.
Maybe that's why he was playing tetris on his iphone during the launch party?
