This sounds a touch immature Neko. Saying you know how to work around the rules is not a good way to inspire Mods and Admin as you should know. The issue as I read it was you Work for PGI. And that is a conflict of interests on a forum like Reddit as I understand it. A good compromise would be asking some of the more neutral MW:O forum members be the Reddit Mods. Or at least I would think it would be a better solution.

This will never be acceptable, they have to be able to control every aspect of discussion regarding their game(s), company and conduct. It's the only way to ensure their message gets across. That message?

While i agree with pretty much everything, please don't put all the blame on Niko.

It's the guys who's calling the shots that are really responsible.

It's inarguable that there has been failure in both leadership and PR here; that said, it's not a case of "blame one or the other." The failure in leadership could have been mitigated with better PR; the failure in PR could have been mitigated with better leadership. Instead these two failures synergized; the total fuckup was greater than the sum of its fuckups.

To absolve Niko of blame is just as bad as absolving PGI's higher-ups. Mistakes were made all 'round. The key here is to recognize that improvement is needed at all levels if PGI is ever going to drag itself out of the morass. It may be too late - I suspect that it is, honestly - but there's the faintest glimmer of hope, it's gonna have to come shortly.

I'm under the impression - and, hey, admittedly I haven't been around recently - that the base issue for most of the anger we're seeing here, and elsewhere, isn't strictly because of missed deadlines or dashed expectations or even tone-deaf community relations. It's because these things have happened and PGI shows no signs of learning from them.

What uhh.. Who exactly is "Us"? I hope you don't mean the Founder's, because there's a lot of Founder's in here who are mad.

I hope you don't mean Clanners, because there are plenty of clanners in here who are pissed, too.

Us. This dysfunctional family of BT puritans, MW puritans, competitive and casual players. Us. Those who at least, to an extent, play this game and know what we're talking about, though we might disagree on its aspects.

Quote

So who exactly is "us"? And you're missing the entire point of this thing. It's not about Transverse, man. It's not specifically about the game itself. If you can't see that well then to quote a certain someone around here that's, "a special kind of blind, btw. Apple hipster kind of blind..."

Read this thread again. It's about all of this, and people's personal grief with PGI. Niko's Reddit escapades were only the plug for all those sociopaths.

Well, I'll address this, though I really don't feel challenged by someone willing to toss more money into this game just to spite... I LOL at you....

My shows were done on a VERY small budget. My PC on my companies T1, with a desktop boom mic. I was networked to my main broadcast server, which in turn broadcast the show to the mirrors. So, the budget was definitely underground :)

Live call-ins were done on a speaker phone.

The Shoutcast software was open source, linux based.

And this was done WAY before Twitch, and WAY before podcasts were even a dream.

However, you have completely, and utterly failed, in every other regard, to do your research on the show.

This was to be expected.

Oh, I have no interest in SC, at least until it's in OB, as I wont part with a dime again, to any company, based on a dream, steam, and cream.

Way to miss the main point, Einstein. I don't give two craps about your high and mighty "contacts" or your shoddy podcast.

You are a terrible person! There, in bold and underlined.

And I am buying the pack because I enjoy the game. I wasn't really sure if I buy the whole thing, and this might change if I don't like certain mechs in it. But having about 40 something individuals crying about the "death of the franchise" or calling for PGI to go bankrupt and lose the license reassured me about my willingness to invest. Certain recent developments did the rest.

Well, all the minitournaments and sales since IGP left them shows otherwise?

(I do not mean a full reversal of fortunes, but some learning :))

MWO is a second game after AVA who are like a "right game in a wrong hands"... same happened to AVA since it moved from ijji to Aeria Games.
I really hope that PGI will learn that lesson and revise their management and game development issues.

Edit: - Besides that "Travesty..." or Tra...what ever is total FAIL. If PGI would develop something like between EVE and Homeworld spaseship constructor that would be great... but what I saw... it's just a one big...

At this point the most I hope for from MWO is to get the server code at some point, so that a new version of MW:LL can rise from the grave. All the actually balanced weapons and different game types + combined arms from MW:LL, with the updated graphics from modern cryengine 3.4?
Yes please.

****, I would take just being able to run a private server with nothing other than ghost heat stripped out, weapons actually balanced, and mechs and variants with real unique features instead of being just a different collection of hardpoints.

Another Founder, long time and current player of the game, and fan of Battletech/Mechwarrior chiming in here.

This thread started with a most alarming statement from you Niko:

Quote

You may have heard the amusing news ...

I don't post much, but I have kept up on the forums since beta. I really don't mean to pile on with a cliche, but it is very true in this case. You do reap what you sow. And the unfortunate fact for Niko and current mods, is that certainly a majority of the ill will of this game's fans is because there is a history of a lack of communication or even simple acknowledgement of concerns by the developers. Since beta, there has been a practice of asking for feedback and then not being very forthright with reasoning for not listening to well constructed and thought out criticisms, and there has been a general feeling of not being listened to as a customer base that is interested in seeing a beloved franchise and a game succeed. And when this happens, criticism will rightfully follow. Any business needs to listen to that feedback and react. How you react shapes further feedback. If you do not like your product or processes being legitimately criticized, then make changes. I'd like to say, at least pertaining to the game, that in listening to the Town Hall by Russ, there is a movement to follow up on a better year of action (relative to previous years) and improve. I look forward to it. However, just because it may be an upswing, it does not excuse it from further criticism.

And that is the crux of this issue in how criticism was handled. Aside from agreement that personal attacks and threats are uncalled for and grounds for losing your place in a discussion, the methods and practices of 'controlling the message' were ill conceived. And using a 3rd party site (over your own website and forums) as a discussion tool may be the thing to do in this connected age (regardless of how this appears to fans that look to your official site first), but if you do so, you fall under the rules and moderation policies of that site.

The fact that you found or termed the news "amusing" is alarming. I appreciate the difficulty of a moderator's job. However the actions taken recently in moderation on this site, and on 3rd party sites steps beyond the bounds of propriety and good practices. It is in no way 'amusing' to me. And attempting to circumvent policies for commercial practice on a site with specific policies against that engenders no sympathy from me. If it were my place, I'd recommend no restoration of privileges whatsoever.

I enjoy playing this game. I do not like all aspects of this game, but I can have fun playing, thus I continue to do so. I feel that many people here have made excellent posts appropriately criticizing and offering feedback on many of the issues. Such that I never really felt I needed to add that much. I agree some people crossed the line here. I believe that the situations could have been handled better.

I add my post in support of my fellow mech warriors and hopes of a better policy going forward.

Hey MechFans!

You may have heard the amusing news that we have been shadow-banned from Reddit. We're looking to get the situation fixed as soon as possible.

The issue in question stems from the fact that we had created a sub-reddit for r/Transverse in order to pre-empt any possible recreation of the events which occurred leading to the creation of r/OutreachHPG following the take-over of r/mwo. We also have some indications as to which group of players may be responsible. The shadow-ban did not stop at r/Transverse related staff. All PGI Staff have been banned and will be unable to address any concerns raised by players on OutreachHPG as a result.

Here is the message I have provided to various Admins and Moderators of Reddit.

Greetings,

Taking from the points raised by Rlight below (http://www.reddit.co...ng_reddiquette/), as well as the fact that those requesting our SubReddit already have one of their own here: http://www.reddit.co...ansverseTheGame

We kindly request that our accounts be un-banned and our Reddit restored. Your Admins have already been messaged twice regarding these same users performing a take-over of r/mwo, forcing many of our fans to create new sub-reddits. You can refer to that message below:

Hi there,

My name is Nikolai Lubkiewicz, Community Manager for Piranha Games Inc. We have set up the r/Transverse sub-reddit to be an official sub-reddit for our upcoming game. It seems request for ownership has been made by those who already took control of the fan sub-reddit for our other feature game r/mwo, as has been discussed here: http://www.reddit.com/r/mwo/comments/1u7hb2/rmwo_hostile_takeover/ and here http://www.reddit.com/r/mwo/comments/1uvnm0/farewell_rmwo/ The end result of this matter was catastrophic to our Reddit fan-base, resulting in many leaving to set up a new home in http://www.reddit.com/r/OutreachHPG/ We apologize for this matter disturbing you. Please ignore any requests for seizure of this sub-reddit. As we do not wish for it to fall into the hands of the gaming group which now controls r/mwo, one which is also strongly associated with events of player and staff harassment in multiple games.

We have otherwise followed any rules presented regarding the use of Reddit as directed here: http://www.reddit.com/rules/ If an error has been made, please let us know.

Those requesting our r/Transverse Reddit today have also already populated their own reddit here: http://www.reddit.co...ansverseTheGame , where they may behave and moderate as they please. As has been already discussed with your Administrative team, we remain concerned regarding the use of the term "Official" alongside our own trademark on r/mwo in a manner which seems to be used to misdirect many of our new and old players. We hope both these matters are resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time.

Here is where you can express your concerns to the Reddit Staff regarding their decision to shadow-ban our staff, whether you agree or disagree with that decision, and your concerns regarding the individuals they are offering the Reddit to. Feel free to include your concern regarding Reddit's decision to remove PGI staff who have had nothing to do with the r/Transverse project or it's sub-reddit, individuals like PGI_Fox, PGI_Karl, and so forth.

http://www.reddit.co...ng_reddiquette/

In the event that we are unable to recover our accounts, we will simply ask that players who are keen and interested create their own threads here Requesting /r/Transverse to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.

http://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/

If we are unable to have our shadow-bans removed, then we will simply have to say farewell to those accounts. Some individuals on r/mwo have already taught us all too well how easy it is to simply generate a new account. We might return. We might not.

Bwahahahaha... how does it feel?

Actually making a clone-account is against ToS/the rules of CoC and gonna look like troll-return issue... can lead to IP ban.

Shredhead - Seriously? How can you be that deluded? There are over 1000 replies to this post, overwhelmingly negative in nature. You are not part of any kind of 'us' except for the diehard PGI suckups who somehow can't see the way that they have been lied to and mistreated by the company. The CORE GAME MECHANIC is STILL not in the game, YEARS after launch.

Seriously, it's almost like you were not there at the beginning, like you didn't hear all of the promises that they've broken - but you WERE. How can you still support a company that has treated you this way?

Doubt it. That would be caving. Can't have that.

We'll get a passive aggressive apology blaming the community for making them do this.

They'll also never admit that there was no "Takeover" of /r/mwo.
