Yeah, I am a quick study, this ain't my first time to the rodeo. Gaming is a serious hobby of mine, and perhaps I've read too many forum posts. I'd gladly accept your nomination, and my position would be simple: add content to the game, and immeadiatly dissolve the player council.

Like some posts above suggest, exclusion will become priority number one. Already the figure being floated around is 90%. Gk candidates, you unanimously agree on something already. I know, you'll be "powerless," you'll just have the dev's ear as a marketing focus group, and pgi will (incorrectly) believe your word as what the community wants.

Well boyos, I could give a toss about ecm. It doesn't break the game. You know what does? Shallow deathmatch arena over and over again. If I wanted an advanced fps simulator, there are much better options. The IP drives this game, and the possibility of tactical warfare over planets via CW makes me salivate.

Have player feedback over something useful. Like map design, or sandboxy features for cw. A player council for a single non issue mechanic? Fail.

As part of the council you don't have the power or right to ask or add for anything.

As far as I can see you have the responsibility to compile a list of good ideas, all in you're unpaid free time, and give it over to PGI.

And when and if PGI decides that those ideas do have merit, then players get to vote on them, probably everyone gets an invite.

And at that point, the screams of bias are inevitable. Not only is having differing points of view essential, it's impossible to do the job properly otherwise. One, but not both.

Depending on the number of perceives white or black knights the screaming is inevitable from the people paying attention. Given that the HoL stance has lately (as per the last I was playing) gone to supporting PGI no matter what I can see those screams as well. BUT there really isnt any non PGI supportive group being that theyve all left.

That's the thing though. There would be no argument. The council would be taksed by PGI to find all the proposals for one issues (ECM for example), and the council would sift the forums, and put them all in a list, and present them to the community and PGI.

Again, for the love of God, actually read the posts related to this topic. Where would the discussion be for the council? They find an idea. Convert it into mechanics (if they're even allowed to do that), and then present the whole list to PGI and the community.

Dont forget the graphs and pie charts lol

There's a difference between that and literally stamping "LORDS RULEZ" on a significant portion of the group, however. If we're that short of qualified candidates that we have to resort to "inbreeding" for competent people, then it's doomed to fail from square one.

If theyre not thats another knock against the idea in the what the point category.

Ppl want them to have some power to make these suggestions but not enough to sway them, thats an incredibly fine razor's edge to walk you know?

And once again you have proved my point on why this counsel is a bad idea with this statement ( and the council would sift the forums, and put them all in a list, and present them to the community and PGI. )

So many times player counsels are formed because the minority of a game thinks thing are bad as in ECM when in fact most in-game players think ECM is just fine and new maps or new game modes or other social aspects of the game need fixed much more urgently.

Plus the fact this counsel would have the ear of Russ/PGI even if it was for there own interpretation of what the playerbase wanted or not.

The view being that they sway them to do what they want... Are you so sure that Russ and co have no ideas left of their own?

IE the bad side of them listening to us.

edit; sorry meds make me loopy and hard to read

Well I guess that would be determined by how many of the counsel member are really MWO staff on ALT accounts?

Here it comes incoming flame.

Some of us have posting histories that stretch through the beta forum- and mine at least contains plenty of unflattering-to-PGI content that I doubt a ringer would produce.

That, too is one benefit of choosing people with an extensive public record. It is quite difficult to hide once you spend this much time posting.

Okay. I'm personally done trying to debate this with you.

You are literally making stuff up as you go, and refuse to address any statement made by me. Instead, you take it, create your own fictionalized version of what you think is being said, and then roll with it.

I'm personally withdrawing from debating this with you any further. Enjoy your day.

So how do you plan to include the whole community in this? you (PGI) on a number of occasions have said the Forum population is only the loud minority group of the entire MWO population. Or is this just to appease the vocal minority an special interest groups? because if you want the imput of the total community by logic it cant be just done here on the Forums. How are you going to get this out to the Entire community. Also so that this group cant be called out lets say as your fan group or yes men, on what basis will you be picking the group? is it most posts, best K/D, most popular players, most Mech pack purchases, what? what qualifications are needed to be part of this council.

I think as I stated in my post I am happy to let the group decide these things. I have faith that the 100 or so names can at least together create a fair way in which they should be picked.

So if the group decides it should be 8 people and 2 from 4 categories AND we will need to add a poll to the launcher to direct every player to read and vote - great.

Odd, so is Mine.
I was going to say Russ, but all that tweeting back and forth would be too odd. But since Paul never replies to my Tweets, it's because we are secretly the same person (and apparently, so are we), so he doesn't have to tweet me back because I already know the answer, as soon as I ask myself the questions via twitter.
