One of the most reasonable people on the list is Heffay, but unfortunately he is on the low end of the vote spectrum.
Regardless, I'll support this venture and give it a chance. We will see what comes of it.
Count my vote for Heffay, I urge others to vote for him too.

Man R you serious? Most of "elected" hardly hits age 20, except Josh Mallan. What 80-s you are talking about. I play MekTek, but MT is not canon. If for exsample MW series will some how fit canon edges than MT is totaly awkward. Since Tactical Operations come out how many times Lore was expelled values? Around 11 times.

Yes, I'm quite serious, I assure you. I have no idea about your age (although I have my suspicions), but I'm just a few years younger than Joseph Mallan and have played BattleTech since 1985 or so.
I think everyone (reasonable) agrees that it's not possible to simply straight-up implement Tech Manual and Total Warfare and call it a day, but there's a slight difference between that and totally throw lore out the window (as, incidentally, MWO's implementation of ECM does).

LORE is not the rules. The TT DEVS will tell you that in any language you need to hear it in. AND I have a Dragon Magazine that reviewed the TT from around 83-84? Started playing a year After StJobe though.

The Nod was nice, but this is a good perspective.

Born 1988. First time I played BT was shortly after I turned 15 (2003, shortly after the invasion of Iraq). That was the same night I also had my first game of Warhammer 40K.

I suspect that they will do 1 of two things:
1- They will go off of the official forums poll. (If it has a substantial amount of votes.)
2- They will make an in-game poll if that is possible with UI2.
(I would cite the 3PV poll as evidence against believing them, but then, they were still strapped to IGP for that one, so whether they could head it or not is not enturely sure.)

that still doesn't define the 80% player base....
80% of what? people who played a round in the last XX days?
people who are founders?
people who spent real money?
again, how will that be defined? They can make it whatever they want and either way it will turn out with a small minority having the power to make changes to the game for all of us even if the rest of us don't want it.
PGI can just take whatever they say and make it happen because they are the devs. They already go on the opinions of the 'elite' players ( and they used that a few patches ago) so how can we be sure that this isn't just a more formal way for them to work with those elite players to screw the rest of us?

I was Play testing HeavyMetalAero when you were 15 and had my first Battalion of minis while you were in diapers. I am ancient!

So...the TT has outsold the MW license by millions, has never been plagued with balance issues, is world reknowned as one of the most balanced systems out there (along with Rifts and WH) and every MW game has been plagued and eventually crumbled under its inability to translate the TT, into a FP game.....
Yet no ones ever just copied over the rules verbatim....
Weird.
And when people write lengthy well thought out detailed articles...thats just a wall of text.
I mean, how are they even supposed to take your points of view seriously when you minimalize them?
They seem to be concerned with making a fun game, you want a fun game, what does their adherence to the TT have anything to do with accomplishing that?
Its not like youre providing any evidence that adhering to the TT would make the game worse
its like saying someone adhering to the Bible or Qaran or Torah cant make an enjoyable religious movie. Pretty sure thats ridiculous.

That being said, I'm taking a break at the moment, and even if I wasn't, I would have my hands full with playing, shoutcasting, and handling OutreachHPG.
So, I would endorse, and personally vote for, the following:
Homeless Bill
Adiuvo
TheMagician
EDIT: And to clarify, the comment about not posting on the forums is because forums are an inherently terrible from of communication, focused on arriving early to a thread and repeating your message as loudly and frequently as possible with no way to measure or filter for quality.
