Heya,

I must admit that I don't really know much about BattleTech but I'm trying to get a better understanding of which characters stand out and are important to readers/players -- especially mech pilots circa 3050?

There's a couple of lists online, but it's difficult to distinguish their impact on everything:
http://www.sarna.net...gory:Characters
http://en.wikipedia....Tech_characters

Thanks in advance.

Natasha Kerensky was probably my favorite, but at least 75% of the novels from 3050 on dealt with Victor Steiner-Davion. Victor was never a favorite, but he was certainly visible.

Those with plot-armor so thick it's disgusting are generally the most popular.

Victor Steiner-Davion, Kai Allard-Liao, Hohiro Kurita, Jaime Wolf, Morgan Kell, Phelan Kell (Later Phelan Wolf, Phelan Ward-Kell, and Phelan Ward), Sun-Tzu Liao.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Cassandra Allard-Liao (Even if she was almost single-handedly responsible for the Confederation being in a position to retake St. Ives) and Shin Yodama (He's a frelling Yakuza who hangs out with the Prince of the Dragons. How awesome is that?)

Anyone with Allard for a last name. Phelen Wolf was a big favorite of mine, though followed closely by Kai Allard and then Justin Allard. Actually come to think of it even Morgan Hasek Davion was a decent character as well. I also agree that Candace was a good supporting character.

My second line runners up would of been Shin Yodama, Jaime Wolf, and Grayson Death of the GDL

DUNCAN FISHER! aka George Ledoux

Both the commentary in the Solaris match above and the reading of a mechwarrior's remembrance are read by George Ledoux, the actor who portrays the voice of one Solaris announcer Duncan Fisher.

Then you're in for some good news. While Natasha Kerensky has already gone home for the invasion, she won't meet her end for another 7 years - as Khan of the Wolf Clan.

I'd expect to see her name pop up every now and then once the Clans start their 'Takin' it back!' party.

Natasha Kerensky.

Perhaps I am just nostalgic, but at the time she was introduced there weren't too many utterly badass female characters in any fiction. She wasn't the damsel in distress; she was the nightmare that made veteran Mechwarriors **** themselves.

Read the Michael Stackpole's "Warrior" and "Blood of Kerensky" trilogys and you will have a great grasp of what is going on in the inner
sphere and how the different factions interact with each other.

Since it seems you favor Kurita, "Wolves on the Border" and "Heir to the Dragon" are great books

Alot of favourites, but Victor Steiner-Davion would definitely be my tops.

Also loved the spymaster Ninyu Kerai Indrahar from the Victor Milan series.
