If we had the tools to do what he asked a council would not be needed. Maybe a poll of the leading ideas then a runoff with the community. It still doesn't address the fact the majority in game will have no clue till they read the patch notes. We need to be able to move to in game polling, It would push many over to the forums to get informed and increase the number here too. Fresh blood would help here a great deal.

I agree! Maybe an announcement in the launcher would be doable, if ingame isn't possible yet. As I removed myself from the council thing, someone who still is a part of it, might want to suggest it to Russ. We will then really see how much the community is behind such a change.

Russ didn't say that we needed to make a player council. He just suggested the community find a way to come together and submit ideas with a majority of support to PGI.

Seriously, I had very huge doubts that MWO in Players Council hands not gonna turn into unbalanced rubbish. Also there is serious doubts that Players Council not gonna change into a POP-star X-Factor alike contest where the elected councilors will turn the game balance issues for personal goods and a bunch of a Forum-FanGils will not make lobby which will affect fraction in the game.

They are so untrusted that better PGI'll screw some bits of game play than some little procent of a players get undeserved advantage.

VOTE AGAINST PLAYERS COUNCIL... STAY SAFE!

As long as it's a competitive player, we are safe. They tend to understand game mechanics and balance infinitely greater than the plebeian casual player base.

There are very few people who can actually make an argument in the first place.

I think those people have already been mentioned. Koniving, Homeless Bill, The Magician were my 3. These 3 guys can make an argument, and are very convincing when they do so. I also don't think they are loudmouths or *insert derogatory term here. Koniving is a great lore reference, TheMagician covers your competitive sector, Homeless has been known to pug it up covers a lot of inbetween. (note that these mentions are just the ones that I nominated)

I do not like Player Councils when they become intermediaries, because it becomes like a committee that you have to work through just to communicate with the company.

Its always better when the company steps up community participation on their own

I do not have enough observation to know whats going on around here but I wanted to add that comment

I think a in-game voting system or a voting system on MWO related fixes balance or improvements would be just the ticket PGI needs to understand the will of there community. The game Star Conflict has this in there UI and I vote on subjects about the game all the time when I play it.

This would be a much simpler solution and better idea than a player counsel.

In game poll cant weed out all the ideas like a council can. Remember Russ is looking for 80%.... There isn't a way you are going to get that with an in game poll.

PGI can't listen to everyone at once. It needs to be more focused. Also, council people would be volunteers who weren't under pressure by PGI to work on various projects - pseudo-employees focused on improving MWO.

"Because I might disagree with them" is a horrible reason not to have a council. Do you like stagnation? because that's what you're asking for.

You are ot going to reach 80% with a council either.

You will get some form of consensus on the ideas of a small minority who does not necessarily represent the will of the people however.

I would rather see a dozen ECM threads here talking about ideas and options that community can naturally select rather than infight over popularity contests. Invest that energy in some moderated discussion on community driven ideas and then perhaps hold a vote on the ideas that float to the top.

So many here, including council nominees have already proposed some interesting and viable ideas. Lets get a mini forum going that focuses on those issues perhaps and let the "market" decide. The rest of this is largely wasted energy imo.

Just one question to moderator and those who voting for Players Council/Commettee:

- Does Koniving, etc., will be able to make a refund of a real money if they would commit a decision which affects PUG's/Random Players (70% of MWO players) gameplay, mechs technical characteristics etc,.? Will they'll be material responsible for their deeds?

Warning you there is just two short answers, walls of text not being taken to attention.

No but it can weed out those that seek to push there own agendas before the will of the player base can be heard. Having a in-game voting system is a much more fair unbiased way to see what the community wants in the game good or bad. it also can filter out those who seek to overturn the vote by fraudulent means.

PGI, Russ specifically ask for a council to focus the ideas/recommendations for change. PGI wants the input, but it can't come from 10,000 voices. The job of the council is to boil down the ideas to a manageable list - most likely finalized by a community poll.

View PostPappySmurf, on 14 September 2014 - 10:53 AM, said:

I vote no! MWO counsel.

But I would like a poll done by PGI in game (yes or no) 1 vote per account on ECM changes and a pro or con balance reason by the staff it should be done in the same topic based on community feedback and the PGI staffs feedback.

I would like to see this same poll done for old jump jet mechanics or new jump jet mechanics.

Have PGI do a poll of what exaclty? That's what they are asking for - the ideas for change. Put down the freaking pitch fork and torches. PGI is asking for the community to come up with the list, and it can't be done with thousands of independent voices - there has to be a starting list.

View PostKingCobra, on 14 September 2014 - 11:04 AM, said:

Warblood said (sounds like someones mad they didnt make the list to get voted upon)

I don't know who your talking about and I don't care but the truth is the so called list of electives are all the same players and there team mates and alt accounts so your list is invalid as far as im concerned same goons different day.

I vote no MWO counsel . just a poll and in-game vote .

Again - a poll of what ideas/changes exactly? PGI isn't going to come up with it - they have tasked the players for that list. What do you think the council is going to do - make a list of ideas. Why does *everything* have to be such a battle?

So all the naysayers - please hold to your convictions and refrain from voting on the council ideas when they are collected since you so vehemently disagree with the entire concept of a group of people collecting and presenting the community's ideas for change... Sheesh...

I havnt commented till now because the idea is silly. There are people who are paid to give a good game to the players. So far aside from being slower than most would want, they have done a good job. I dont see any good coming from this idea.

Isnt this the player relations managers job? Or what ever the jobs name is.

Its pretty easy to understand the concept. PGI reads the forums and see's what is trending. They say hey lets have a look at this topic and these are the top ideas we have seen. They put a poll in game asking which idea seems best. They count the votes then proceed how they see fit.

Its pretty easy to pick up trends here and if they are bad the community will let them know during polling. If a trend or idea has merit the community will let them know.

It will just be the actual community and not just those who participate in the forums.
